Model: ER605 (TL-R605)
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 2.1.2

Dear TP Link,

I was happy to see that the controller software version 5.8 supports custom DDNS. However, when I try to use it I get the error that the url is invalid. I have tried just entering a single word, a full domain, prefixi with http:// or https://, etc. It doesn't seem to accept any entry. My provider requires me to call a https url with as parameters a domain and a token. Can you share how I can do that? Or if not possible, fix it?

Also, it isn't clear to me if next to a timer, the service will also be called if the WAN ip address changes.

Thanks!

As a sidenote to everyone else visiting this thread, the controller (5.8+) requires the router to support custom DDNS before it will provide the interface to do so.

Currently ER605v1 v1.2.1 does not and so you won't see the interface options for customized DDNS.

  @Hoamboy

Wow, thanks, I finally got it to work! I never realized that the variables in your example really needed to be included as written (so really [USER]). This works, so thanks for your help.

For the TP-Link employees who are reading along, I suggest making this a lot less restrictive. A lot of these DDNS providers only require you to call a URL with a token in it and none of the mentioned variables are required. Maybe give the warning that they are not included, but then allow the user to accept that and create the DDNS provider anyway.

  @Deputy

You're welcome mate.

Also just found out by luck when I clicked 'Save' a bit too early while still using variables - but it started working.
