It will be solar-powered, and I’d like to avoid using a stepup converter to achieve  24 VDC.

Hi - just saw your post re 12v supply for a POE. The unit you linked to at Amazon won't work - it only supplies POE voltage at the supply voltage, so 12v in = 12v out. We used this one from Amazon. 12v in = 24v out. Works as advertised. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00CYX8PA8/?coliid=I3R2YJWVD8TTTQ&colid=2PORFG48Q1XF5&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it or https://tinyurl.com/2e88ce82

Dear @Oregonian,

I'm afraid the answer is no. It's required to use a 24V Passive PoE adapter to power the CPE.

DC power is not Passive PoE, they are different, you may check this PoE guide for more details.

@Fae, I should have been more clear. I'm planning to use a DC injector such as this "Single Port Power Over Ethernet Passive PoE Adapter":

amazon.com/gp/product/B00ENNUWO4/

It supplies whatever DC voltage you feed it.

Voltage loss in small-wire DC systems is steep. I'm guessing the included AC PoE injector supplies 24VDC to accomodate longer runs of ethernet cable, which the CPE then regulates down to 12 or more llikely 5VDC.

The little PV power system I will be building supplies 12VDC. Because my run is just a few feet over ethernet, I'm guessing 12VDC will work just fine. Just wondering if anyone has tried this or knows if it will work.

Otherwise, I can use a12V to 24V Step Up Converter upstream of the injector, but I'd rather not add another load to my PV system.

  @Oregonian

We did not test the CPE with any 3rd-party injector.

All we can offer is the SPEC of the CPE210 passiave PoE:

(+4,5pins; -7,8pins) Voltage range: 16-27VDC
