Hi,

I am currently running the Omada Software Controller (Linux) in a Docker container. This is at version 5.1.7.

Now I have bought an OC200 hardware controller which is at a higher version 5.6.4.

Can I migrate settings and data from the software controller to the hardware controller by means of the "Controller Migration" option and/or the backup/restore option?

Thanks

You must use the Site Migration option.

Both can work. If you use Backup/Restore, you just need to re-adopt the oamda devices via the username/password.

@Somnus, I have a similar need but the info displayed in the Controller Migration screen of the Omada Software controller says the following:

"Controller Migration allows Omada administrators to migrate your configurations and data from the current controller to any other controller that has the same version"

I am running Omada_SDN_Controller_V5.5.6_Windows which can be upgraded to any of the following:

Omada_SDN_Controller_V5.6.3_Windows
Omada_SDN_Controller_V5.7.4_Windows
Omada_SDN_Controller_v5.8.4_Windows

Latest OC200 V1 firmware can run:

Built-in Omada SDN Controller v5.7.6
Built-in Omada SDN Controller v5.6.4
Built-in Omada SDN Controller v5.4.7

So it appears there is no perfect version match SW vs HW controller

Anyone able to suggest a safe upgrade path to use HW controller ?

I can confirm this is an issue, I have a production OC200 running v5.6.4 and I was unable to import that backup config file into a software controller (both were @mbentley docker builds) running either v.5.8.4 or v.5.6.3. I had always thought only the first two digits mattered (ie 5.8 vs 5.6) but in both situations and with multiple attempts an 'unspecified error' occurred and it suggested I try again later... I gave up.

Ok, just successful in a software->software (Linux) migration from a docker image running 5.4.6 to one running 5.8.4.

Need to understand why my OC200_5.6.4->docker_5.8.4 didn't work as technically they are both Linux behind the scenes.
