EAP245 Wi-Fi Speed With iPhone 11
EAP245 Wi-Fi Speed With iPhone 11
Hi
I have an EAP245 v3 and I host inside my network a docker with Librespeed. My speed test never goes over 400 mbits. I'm in front of it with nothing to reduce the strength of the signal. I'm sure that I'm using 5ghz. The channel width is set to auto.
Shouldn't I get more than it at 5ghz ?
if yes, what can I do to make it work ?

First thanks for all the knowledge you shared.
It does make sense and explain what I saw before.
Thanks so much

if i am right about my networking knowledge.
so, 80mhz as advertised, 4 antennas
this is wifi6(ax)
it's using MCS10
so wifi5 1024qam with 4 antennas(SS) gets 2161Mbps as link speed. it's also the speed advertised by asus. i don't know why they can use wifi6 stream and rate
yet, i assume that most devices today do not get 4 antennas(SS) as far as i know. so maybe the chart i refered before was outdated and did not include 1024qam
i remember that 160mhz is avail on wifi6.
conclusion, unless that your device gets 160mhz with 2 ss or your device is 4 ss + 80mhz, you cannot get a 800mbps as internet speed.
to count the internet speed, link speed*50~60% = internet speed.

M1 and other MBP or MBA wireless specs: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/deployment/dep2ac3e3b51/web
MBP or MBA with m1 chip supports wifi 6 but two antenna (SS) with 80mhz, just 1200mbps as link speed. equal 600mbps internet speed. ah, apple. lol

Hey Tedd
100% agree it simply doesnt add up! As you say the asus is 4x4 @ 80mhz getting the 2166, that means 540ish per stream. That is spot on with the additional QAM as moving from 256QAM to 1024QAM adds around 25% more performance (433 per stream vs 540ish). Iphone with 2x streams should be 1100ish so transfers of around 650 / 700 tops would be the expected results here. Personally never seen anyone report faster than that on a 2x card
Yes, 160mhz is available on AX and the WiFi card I have connected to my MacBook supports it on 2x so it comes in around the 2gbps at that width. I dont use the built in M1 card as its got limitations on features i need for testing. AX really isn't much faster, perhaps 25% vs AC when its used at 80mhz widths. Still rather impressed with the spec of that asus all the same, certainly gives you more than you expect for AC!
