Model: EAP620 HD
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.0

We have two EAP 620's supporting 25 devices and are seeing 10% packet loss. This is being run in an uncrowded area with only 5 buildings in 200 yards. Most of the dropped packets are on 5GHz. So far I've changed channels, reduced channel width, swapped EAPs and even removed everyone from wifi except for one device and the dropped packet percentage is the same. Fast Roaming, AI Roaming, and Force Disassociation are on. What else should we explore to find the cause?

May I know the version of your controller?

Could you please briefly describe the topology of your network? How are the devices in your network connected?

Has this problem existed from the beginning of EAP use?

I'm running controller 5.0.30.

We have two EAP620's wired with cat6 back to a TL-SG2210MP which goes out via an ER605. There are a few other wired devices running to the switch. Combined, the two EAP620's support 25-30 clients.

Firmware
device firmware
EAP 620's 1.1.0
TL-SG2210MP 1.0.2
ER605 1.2.0

The problem can be traced back to the day we installed it about 30 days ago. I was concerned it was a problem with one of hte EAPs, but the issue occurs on both. I've uninstalled one and the issue continues and then I swapped them and the problem remains.

That post implies it's not a real problem, but perhaps a reporting issue with that version of the controller, so I waited for a newer version of the controller (5.1.7). The latest version of the controller continues to show lots of dropped packets. One EAP is showing 27% dropped packets on 2.4GHz and the other is showing 20%.

5Ghz is better, but still high. Even with both of them turned to low power the drops continue. We've experienced extremely slow file transfer speeds between two wireless devices (45 minutes to transfer 2GB).

  @Mikul

As far as I know, smb protocol takes a lot of bandwidth and slows down the whole network and it is not recommenced to use wireless to transfer files. Wired connection is preferred. What kind of protocol do you use?

I was doing a home setup with SMB protocol while I was transferring files from a NVME M.2 to USB 3.0 flash drive using smb protocol, I am getting around 1-digit MB transfer speed. As well as my whole network just blew up because of this transfer.

I was using SMB over wireless, so perhaps that explains the slowness, but it doesn't explain the 10-25% dropped packets that happens every day.

Quote from the solution from that link by FAE.

I was having some Wifi stability issues and replaced the cable to the HD620 and for now seems more stable.  (Monitoring it :) )

I have a feeling that what i was seeing is more a display bug as this morning its showing more than 100% dropped.

My device is EAP620 HD(Canada) v2.0[Custom] Firmware version 1.0.0  with Omada Software controller 4.4.6

Sorry for my delayed update. So it has been confirmed to be that the statistics of Error/Dropped packets are incorrect, it won't affect the actual Wi-Fi performance, please do not worry about it too much. The issue will be fixed in the firmware that is compatible with controller v5.1.

Don't worry about the performance. It is not affected. Please kindly wait for the firmware for EAP620 HD that is adapt to Controller V5.1..

I was wondering about bad cables too, but I'm having similar issues with another EAP on a different drop. It's possible they're both bad, but that seems unlikely.

I'll keep an eye out for the new firmware and hope that the problem disappears.
