EAP610, what is a real difference to EAP620?
What is a real difference comparing eap610 and eap620? I have both devices and see no reason for the price difference, just received today eap610 which I got just to test it, I mean its huge, accoording to documentation it supports less clients (kinda less high-density but still high-density)? eap610 has now around 80 clients and working like a charm. eap620, as well as eap610, both cover same space and both perform in same way, I see no difference at all and wonder why/when one should take eap610 and when eap620? Also, is eap610 and eap610-outdoor same hardware as eap610-outdoor? Seems to be almost twice of the price of eap610.
Therefore, what is the real difference when one compares eap610 and 620?
On this forum I found no discussion about eap610 and on amazon is just one comment which claims the signal strenght is not good and cant go through few walls, well, I get -70db with 4 walls (2 of them are not thin) with 5Ghz, eap610 performs excellent on current location.

@btx I think the main difference is on Concurrent Clients. EAP620 HD supports 1000+ while EAP610 only 250+.clients

@Somnus thanks for reply, your reply confirms what I wrote, as in the technical paper I see no other difference than max. amount of clients, but if hardware is the same as on 620HD, antenna the same, cpu/ram the same, where does then the restriction come from? I would say it is just software, but I honestly can't believe it is just a software, I might screw my warranty by opening it to see the hw and antennas as well what exactly is different, I kinda would appreciate if tp-link can reply to spare me opening case and possibly killing my warranty. As I have extracted whole firmware, not sure if I can flash 620hd's firmware (I might try) but attempt to flash openwrt for more analysis can be done as soon as I get time, I just have no interest to run openwrt and all of this would waste my time, hope support can give more info about exact differences from those devices.
Same question about hardware goes for eap610-outdoor.

No offense to you, it's their spec. But Ha Ha! Yeah, right, 1000 clients on one AP. AS IF.
I'd love to see some actual IxChariot testing data:
# of STA's
Throughput per STA
CPU & Memory Load of AP
Latency and jitter.
Maybe 100-200 active STA's.

@JSchnee21 But if 100-200, then it is the same device as 610, I have currently 80 clients, during the day there were over 100 and 610 is not on its limit. I am really confused about the price difference, maybe something with eap610 v1 is wrong (known issue?), I received eap610 v1 and wonder if it is a sell out. Everything works perfectly, have no issues, but if there are higher versions then I was screwed with v1 device. I have two weeks to return it in case that I am not satisfied, thats why opening it now is maybe not best idea. I can't believe nobody from TP-Link answers here. @Fae or anybody else from tp-link, can you bring some light into the dark about the difference beetwen eap610 and 620 as well if I was screwed with eap610 v1, what's the difference to other eap610 versions? Customer might go for other brand if I can't clarify this question.

I've read somewhere it has larger memory and / or different CPU. Not sure about it but it might be better in higher loads. 610 can be cheaper probably because of cheaper / slower / missing HW which is still enough for general use.
Few active clients with high throughput (file transfer, download, streaming...) are very likely less resource intensive than many (hundreds) clients like phones - just browsing sites, apps transmitting data... This may be the usage where more powerful HW won't hit it's limits.
It's sad they doesn't give more info about differences.

@jrypacek there are few differences in specification, like power supply, eap610 v1 has Qualcomm Technologies, Inc IPQ6000, here more info about cpu

As I know, the difference between EAP610 and EAP620HD is the hardware specification. The hardware of EAP620HD is optimized for high density deployment, its performance will be much better than that of EAP610. Generally speaking, if you have no more than 100 clients, EAP610 is enough to meet the basic network requirement. But if you have more clients, EAP620HD may be the better choice.
Kind note that the concurrent clients provided in the Datasheet/Spec is usually the maximum value, actual capacity will vary as a result of client behavior (normal browsing/transmitting or torrent downloading/streaming) and network conditions (network bandwidth, interference, etc.).

@Fae Thanks for reply, so far I understand, you do not have physically both devices to look up, would be nice if you could get those to check.
In your reply you say that only specification is different, I am sorry if I interpret it wrong, but doesn't it mean that the difference is only paper in specification or does it mean that hardware is different causing different specifications in datasheet?
I fail to understand how same hardware can have such a difference if there is no hardware difference. According to datasheet it has same amount of antenas too, leaving one only to guess what a real difference is.
I saw many people buying and throwing out money in thinking eap620 is better than eap610, all those bought then 620 where they have not more than 20 wireless clients, for home usage.
But even for a business, considered definition of number of employees, nod mid or small company would require 620's. Lets consider you are correct with more clients, but 1000 with same amount of ram/cpu is simply not something that one would like to run, instead having few more devices. From that description eap620's might be more usefull than 610 in very crowded public space or rooms like auditoriums in university, but even there one would use more than one device, making again 620 not the best choice.
I would like to see technical data for eap610 v1, eap610 v3, eap620 (any version) and eap610-outdoor, can you post? If not, can I order 620, open it, publish tests and return it back because I am not satisfied with how it works? I guess it is easier if tp-link posts it.
Also, what is exactly the difference in eap610 v1 and v3?
So far, for home users, eap610 will have 100% same results, as most have much less than 100 wireless clients, mostly 5-20 and according to your description for home use only 610 makes senses, especially as one can buy almost 2 eap610 for the price of 620.
In my case it is mid size company with 4 locations and 250 employees, where on each floor there will be one access point, in that constelation without to be a public place, each eap will never have more than 60 clients. With that it is clear that customer should take eap610, but I still fail to know exact numbers and real hard-/software specification.
