Model: ER7206 (TL-ER7206)
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hi,I live in a small city, distant from the center of the town, not reached by FTTH (fiber connection)I'm using a ER7206 TP-Link Omada router/switch;I'm using 2 wan services:

  • WAN1 using Starlink, high speed 200Mbps/30Mbps (almost for me) but UNSTABLE

  • WAN2 using Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), lower speed 30Mbps/2Mbps but more STABLE

I setup 2 different wifi networks with different SSIDs: WIFI1 and WIFI2.I would to route the traffic of all the clients connected to

  • WIFI1, to WAN1 or WAN2

  • WIFI2, to WAN2

I'm trying to do this, in order to "simply and quickly" allow the components of my family (and me) to choose a stable connection when they need to make online meetings, by choosing to connect to WIFI2. In generic cases, by connecting to WIFI2 we can use the higher speed of starlink, when drops of 5-10 secs of the line are not a problem. Starlink is still in "beta" and line drops are frequent.

Is my approach to my situation ok or not?How canI configure this on my ER7206 TP-Link Omada router/switch?

Thank you for your help

A

To do that i think you have to use omada sdn controller.

you have to create a VLAN for SSID you want to route to a different WAN interface, then create a policy route on this VLAN and map this to WAN port. with destination ipgroup_any

@shberge thank you, it seems to work!

just to better understand the wan load balancing options: do you know the difference between "Link Backup" and "Always link primary"?

@amolinari

This is different failover option or load balancing option, but i have not tested this myself så I don't know.

but if you ask the forum there is probably many that can help you with that.
