Model: TL-SX3008F
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.0 Build 20210316 Rel.70629

When configuring this switch standalone, you can set the port speed using the CLI:

interface ten-gigabitEthernet 1/0/1

speed 1000

This allows the use of various 1GB SFP's.

e.g.

TL-SX3008F#show fiber-ports

When adopting to the Omada controller, port speed is set to 10GB and can not be changed in the controller or via the CLI.  This stops 1gb SFP's from working at all.

Can you set the switch to one of the following:

  • Correctly identify SFP / SFP+ modules and set the correct speed
  • Automatically detect link speed or maximum port speed
  • Allow the port speed top be set manually in the Omada controller.

Alternatively, can you direct me to a compatibility list for SFP's that will auto-detect 1gb links to other switches (e.g. TL-SG2210P)

Thanks,

James.

@Wyseman

I checked on my Controller, and I believe you can change the link speed on the Controller?

Here is what I see:

Mine is TL-SG2210P and port 9-10 is SFP port, when I click edit, I can change the link speed.

Can this change solve the problem?

Dear @Wyseman,

Here is a beta firmware that can auto-detect the SFP speed and link up in controller mode.

@Virgo

This was it :)

I didn't realise so many options were shown after clicking the "Profile Overrides" checkbox! Thanks for the help!

@Fae

Just following up.  No problems with Beta Firmware you suggested.  Link speeds detect correctly.  I have adopted to contoller / run standalone and re-adopted all without issues.  Used with a number of SFP/SFP+ modules from various vendors and no issues!  Thanks!

@Wyseman Apologies for resurrecting an old thread.   Was looking for some advise on the SX3008F and there arent many posts / owners of it as far as I can see.   I see the SX3008F has a max heat dissapation listed in its specifications (unlike other devices).   Also shows as fanless,  is this device supposed to be used in an air conditioned environment ie rack / server room.  Does it run hot when operational?   Cheers in advance.

@Ajhodgey I have it in a small  rack mounted under my desk with a NAS, not great airflow, the room isn't airconditioned.

I just put a BBQ thermometer in the rack above the switch (through the brush panel), it shows 36c (96F) but the switch doesn't feel hot (I think most of the heat comes from the 8 disks below it).  This one replaced a Unifi switch that ran significantly hotter.  All my TP-link switches run much cooler than the unifi ones they replaced.

Switch runs no problems, rock solid and good performance.
