Model: ER7206 (TL-ER7206)
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

Hi,

I bought some TP-Link Omada stuff and want to setup it now. To prepare a defined network area (192.168.42.X) I want to setup the router first.

I connected the LAN Port (on the right side, port 5) of the ER7206 directly to my laptop (I did try it with a Desktop Switch between, but it also didn't work), and disabled my Wifi connection to disconnect from my current home network. A modem is currently not connected to the WAN port of the router.

PWR LED is green, SYS LED is blinking green slowly, both LED on LAN port 5 are green.

And now I'm trying to connect to 192.168.0.1 from my browser. But I can do what I want, I can't reach the site.

When I'm running the Win10 troubleshoot, I get the message: "Ethernet" doesn't have a valid IP configuration. I searched in the www for that and tried a lot of suggestions. ipconfig /flushdns, checking if ip adress is obtained automatically, set it test wise manual to 192.168.0.23 and add 192.168.0.1 as gateway, but nothing works.

I changed the network cable, too. Did some Hardware resets of the router, some Win10 restarts, tested the port 4 of the router, changed the laptop....

I also have the OC200 controller, SG2428p Switch and some Access Points, but that stuff is not connected at the time.

I'm completely lost and hope, that you can help me.

Output from ipconfig, when "Obtain IP adress automatically":

Ethernet adapter Ethernet:

   Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . :
   Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Intel(R) Ethernet Connection I219-LM
   Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : deleted it for the community..
   DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes
   Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes
   Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address. . : 169.254.44.44(Preferred)
   Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.0.0
   Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :
   NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Enabled

Don't know, where the IPv4 address comes from. Must be from the ER7206 router. I expected an address from 192.168.0.X ....

Thanks,

Orandus

Hi, the solution: Today I received the new router, connected it and was able to access the login page. So, the old router was defect and caused the issue. Thanks for your help, Orandus

@Orandus

Hi. try to set static IP on your PC, like 192.168.0.50, 255.255.255.0, 192.168.0.1, without DNS.

Can you ping 192.168.0.1 and get a response on your PC?

As you said, you have tried to reset the Router, reboot your devices, tried different cables, ports, PCs, but still cannot get a valid IP address.

Maybe it's a defective Router.

How about this one, try to do firmware recovery, can you access the Emergency mode?

How to use the Emergency Mode to recovery the firmware for Omada Gateways?

@Virgo thanks for your answer!

I tried it with your IPv4 settings without DNS, but it doesn't work: This site can't be reached: 192.168.0.1 took too long to respond.

After that I tried it with the emergency mode. Turned of the router, plugged in the ethernet cable to the laptop, pressed the reset button and hold it until the green leds of the LAN port are on, after I plugged in the power cable in the router.

But I still can't connect to 192.168.0.10. Tried the procedure some times with some reboots of router and laptop, with Wifi enabled/disabled, to 192.168.0.1/192.168.0.10, ... Will try more ethernet cables and my desktop computer later.

If you have no further ideas, I'll send the router back and order a new one. But I'm afraid it's a misconfiguration on my side...

Here are the new ipconfig outputs:

Windows IP Configuration

   Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : Orandus-Devbox
   Primary Dns Suffix  . . . . . . . :
   Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid
   IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
   WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No

Ethernet adapter Ethernet:

   Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . :
   Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Intel(R) Ethernet Connection I219-LM
   Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : <deleted it for the community>
   DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No
   Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes
   IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.20(Preferred)
   Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
   Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1
   NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Enabled

Best regards,

Orandus

@Orandus

I can't find anything wrong with everything you have done, maybe it's just a hardware issue on Router.

Hope the New Router/replacement will be all good!
