Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version: 4.0.0 Build 20180716 Rel.51032(s)

I just put in a new T1600G-52PS v4 switch and it has significantly slowed down my download speed. I have 1 gig internet speed and when I do a speed test I consistently get roughly 300 Mbit down. Sometimes it bursts to 500-ish Mbit right as the test starts but very quickly slows down to 300 Mbit or less, often even down to 200 Mbit. If I bypass the switch and plug directly into the EdgeRouter X I consistently get 800 - 950 Mbit on the speed test. I thought it was something with the switch but I get the exact same results if I replace the T1600G-52PS with a T1600G-28PS. These are brand new switches on the latest firmware version and with virtually nothing configured other than a static route for 0.0.0.0/0. Bandwidth throttling isn't enabled, this is truly a vanilla install. I tried messing with QoS but no luck there, these are also brand new Cat 6 cables. I've tried different ports etc. Any ideas?

My Configuration

PC > CAT6 Cable > CAT6 Patch Panel > CAT6 Cable > TP-Link Switch (T1600G-52PS) > CAT6 Cable > Ubiquiti EdgeRouter X > CAT6 Cable > Cable Modem

Thanks,

Jeremy

Did you change the switch's IP address? If you use both switches at the same time, you should assign them two different IPs.

Next question: is the switch connected to the built-in switch of the ER-X and is HW off-loading enabled? Or is it connected to a virtual interface of the ER-X, where HW off-loading does not have an effect? Without HW off-loading throughput of the ER-X is ~300 Mbps.

@R1D2 I did change the IP address of the switch so they are different. As far as the EdgeRouter X, yes hardware offload is enabled. If I bypass the TP-Link switch and plug directly into the EdgeRouter X I can get 900+ Mbit, If I plug into the TP-Link switch and then into the EdgeRouter X I only get 300-ish Mbit.

@JeremyC, that's really mysterious. I would do a quick LAN-to-LAN test of the switch only with iperf and if it caps at 300 Mbps also, I would RMA the switch.
