Model: OC200
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.1

I have today got a OC200, it's the first one I have had and after plugging it into a switch and power by USB port on the back of the device. It is not getting a DHCP IP and it's also not falling back onto 192.168.0.253 until I reset it. When I reset it only the recovery mode shows so I have upgraded the firmware from the tplink website. Still the same and again, get to the recovery screen. This screen only has two other options of reboot and factory reset. Tried both and still not working.

Have I got a bad device or is there another way?

If you use USB to power OC200 try to power it with POE or try to find a more powerful USB power. I think a smaal power sourch can make truble. it¨s minimum 1A so if you power it with 2A it shuold work. but I preffer to use POE to power it.

@shberge, I second this. There are two types of USB power sources: charging and powering devices. The former are constant current sources, the latter are constant voltage sources. Thus, we always sell OC200 with either a TL-POE150S PoE injector or with a PoE switch for powering the controller. Also, using PoE as the power supply is the only method which allows to use USB sticks in OC200 for the auto-backup method.

@shberge  @R1D2

Thanks for your help! I had it powered by USB via another device (thought I'd save a power socket) but works perfectly with it's own power socket. I would use POE but unfortunately I have an old Cisco switch that doesn't have POE. That's the next upgrade!

Thanks again!
