Hi all,

My installation is PC -> dropcable to wall-socket/connector -> cat7 cable running around house to basement (20m) -> connector -> cat7 patch cable -> Switch TL-SG2008.

When connecting my pc I only get 100mbit, not 1000mbit.

If I wire the pc directly in the TL-SG2008 I get 1000mbit.

Any suggestions to what is wrong, maybe these pictures can help from the internal cable-test?

Picture 1 shows when cable is directly in switch.
Picture 2 shows when I use the long wired house installation

.

Is the missing PAIR-C and PAIR-D the error because they are required for using 1000mbit? - If so I assume the wires in connectors are not working as they should?

Thanks for any help!

Regards,
Martin, Denmark.

Yes. One of the cables or connectors is wired for 100 Mbps only - hopefully not the CAT7 installation, but if installed by an electrician I wouldn't be surprised too much. ;) See https://allpinouts.org/pinouts/connectors/networking/ethernet-1000base-t-gigabit/ for the correct wiring of 1000BASE-TX cables.
