Yes. You need inter-zone forwarding, just three lines in the firewall config:
config forwarding
option src 'guest'
option dest 'wan'
or using the web UI ( "Zone => Forwardings" in the "Zones" section):

what are the rules to get the wan associated with the guest network. when i get to this step the box to the right of guest is reject.

Yes, default policy for forwarding is always REJECT for new zones.

Just click on Edit to change anything:

Scroll down to Inter-Zone Forwarding, select WAN and click Save & Apply:

You need to install the appropriate kernel module(s) first.

Go to menu System->Software. Click on Update lists first. Filter software packages, search for kmod-usb, click Find packages.

List of available software shows kernel modules for various USB devices. Select kmod-usb-storage for USB sticks or appropriate package for whatever device you want to use through USB.

See also https://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/howto/start, section Peripherals, subsection USB - or anything other out of tens of thousands of packages you are interested in. ;) But it is not TP-Link-specific, the OpenWRT forum could give much better help with this.
