TL-SG-108E V2 - VLAN 1 tagging
Hardware Version :
Firmware Version :
ISP :
Hello,
I am having the same issue as many many others posted elsewhere (Amazon and co). This is the only thing why this switch is "not good and not acceptable" for me.
TP-Link disabled completely modifications for VLAN 1 even in Web interface as in the mgmt software.
My issue is, that our company's network topology even uses tagged VLAN 1 packets in the "Switch Inter-connections", untagged packes are only allowed on the client side ports. To get the TL-SG-108E switches part of the network (we already ordered 10 pcs of them) they must accept and repeat VLAN 1 tagged packets but all the options to modify that are greyed out. In this case I need to set some ports VLAN 1 to be tagged (for the way to another switch) some to be forbid (when they should NOT be part of VLAN 1) and some to be untagged (for client connections).
I know, that you can not compare a HP enterprise switch with this "cheap crap" but the "cheap crap" may be also very good and usable with only unlocking this feature.
For 99% I think that it is only a software limitation, so with a modification in firmware this problem should be completely solved.
Even the setting of the mgmt vlan should be possible!!!
Please, please, please, if possible dear TP-Link team, please implement a fully working VLAN configuration into that brand of switches.
I or we know, that it is possible to close out ourself of the web interface but therefore we have a good working reset button ;)
Thank you
dirk

Is the admin vl;an-1 issue also solved for the V4 of TL-SG108E ?
I would like to buy a couple of these switches:
Goals:
fully Guest network,
though my 3 AP's, and 4 switches.
IoT devices separated from the rest of the network (only via internal FW reachable).

Hi does anyone know if this new V3 firmware will work with a V1 version SG 108E?

@Tpetzold Can you tell me which new firmware vor V4 you meant? The latest firmware for V4 i can find is 20181120.
Its not possible to delete vlan1 on that firmware but i can remove all ports from it (on other vlans it is not possible to remove all ports, at least one port must be member to save&apply). is this the right behavior? the workaround is not to delete it but to remove all members? i surely can live with that, but it confuses me a bit.
Also another question: Since there is no way to configure the vlan for management, i wonder if the management interface is only accessible from vlan1 or is it reachable from every vlan as long as the subnet fits to management-ip-settings?

This is the latest firmware for V4.

The fact that you can't create a VLAN without selecting a port (other than »not member«, this is a selection, too) is caused by the way the web UI of Easy Smart switches works.
It does not make much sense to have a VLAN without port members on an Easy Smart switch. The Default VLAN is an exception since there must be at least one VLAN for unused or unassigned ports. In more expensive switches one can create VLANs without port members, but still their Default VLAN can't be deleted, too.
The important thing is that ports are not fixed members of the Default VLAN anymore and can be removed since 2018/01/01.
Also another question: Since there is no way to configure the vlan for management, i wonder if the management interface is only accessible from vlan1 or is it reachable from every vlan as long as the subnet fits to management-ip-settings?
The mgmt interface of Easy Smart switches is accessible from every VLAN, yes.

Hi there
I owned Smart switch TP-Link TL-SG1016PE V1 and I am trying to setup 802.1Q VLANs for my home network. So I need to figure out how I can assign wifi AP (UBNT) port as member of two VLANS (private network and guest network), also I am sure that I have to assign router (mikrotik) port as member of all vlans. Problem is after I create vlans I cannot set up one port as member of two (or more) vlans in PVID settings because in PVID settings is possible to set only one port to one vlan.
So can you tell me how can I solve my situation?
Thanks

@Rain Hi, I know this is an old thread. I have just opened and installed for the first time my new TL-SG108PE Switch.
The reason I purchased it is for VLAN's support, as I need to have some network connected through my home internet, but without accessing my home resources.
I have set up a VLAN which is meant to be restricted only to access the internet, #403, and set port 5 to have only Untagged vlan 403, and also set PVID on port 5 to 403.
When connected to this port, I indeed get the relevant vlan with relevant subnet and IP address, but if I change my computer's IP address to the same as Vlan1 , I can't reach my firewall, or other internal resources (which are not connected directly to this switch), but I do have access to the web ui of the switch management.
I understood in this thread that there was a fix for this issue, back in 2018, for TL-SG-108E, but I couldn't find this fix for TL-SG-108PE. I tried upgrading to the latest version on the website (20191204-rel.71847) , but it doesn't seem to contain this fix.
What can be done so I'll enjoy this fix?
Thanks,
Ido

To not use VLAN 1 we need to disable all port members? What if I have 2 different VLANs? Should I "tagged" it or "untagged"
