Model : EAP120

Hardware Version : V1

Firmware Version : 2.0.1 Build 20151022 Rel.45102

ISP :

Any Eap120 that I have that was on the 2.0.1 Build 20151022 Rel.45102 firmware cannot be moved from that firmware. When I tried to upgrade my eap controller software to 2.2.3 I also attempted to upgrade the associated ap's to the newest 160107 firmware, unfortunately any eap120 that had the 2.0.1 Build 20151022 Rel.4510 firmware reported a "file check fail" warning. Turns out these ap's will not accept ANY firmware downloadable from the TP_Link website...

Is there a way to force it? I have tried: reboot, power off, factory reset, both the alt firmware available... nothing works.

There must be something. Please feel free to send me any temp firmware that will allow me to break free of this so i can move forward.

So looking at the list of firmware it looks like the US only server http://www.tp-link.us does not list anything about the new firmware. The few ap's I have upgraded work perfectly, i just need to revert the US ones back to the general firmware chain.

So it seems that the US firmware comes with a hidden gotcha... the inability to change firmware... There was no warning on this firmware, which is pretty outrageous thing to conceal from your users. I am unsure if I feel comfortable reccomending your hardware to my clients if things like this can be snuck in. I wonder if Engenius does this sort of thing without notification or a way to revert...

It is restricted by the US regulations. Products sold in US cannon be switch to another firmware version.
As I know, this applies to all brands ever since the FCC regulations are updated.

You should have waited for the release of the US firmware which is compatible with controller 2.2.3..

At the moment you'd better downgrade to the old controller, or just keep waiting.

It would better that you should uninstall the controller 2.2.3 then install the controller 2.0.3. There are not downgrade option like the EAP firmware. So you need to install controller again.

Still a gotcha not being able to change things. As far as not upgrading if only the clients would listen, they always have that one employee who thinks they are a techie....

So what I am left with is explaining to the clients that even though there was no warning we still have to blame the employee while they want to blame the hardware mfg...
