Hello

we have a business case for a single switch that must not be affected by power cuts etc for proper trnamission of machine signalling. The TL-SG3428X-UPS would fit our scenario perfectly (there is a T1700G-28TQ running at the moment, so the specs are just made for us) and would be a cheaper and probarbly more reliable option than a regular SG3428X/the existing T1700G and a small UPS.

Well, the UPS function (signalization) seems to be pretty basic just like on some cheap UPS (but with the advantage of very easy battery replacement, hopefully hot-swapable). I haven't found out whether there is some battery testing routine (automatic or manual) and if there is any implementation of the UPS function in the SDN Controller. And for what I have read in the installation manual, there is just one LED on the front showing whether the switch is using or loading the battery, but no signalization if the battery needs to be replaced.

However I noticed this switch is not (or no longer?) listed on various omadanetworks.com-localizations (although not marked as EOL yet) which makes me wonder if there is something wrong with this specific model. So what's the precise reason:

— Product intended for very limited sales markets only?

— The built-in UPS function might have shown some, let's say disadvantages over external UPS solutions, so this product will be phased out?

— Sellings far under the expectations, so no next production batch?

As by now, there are recent firmware upgrades for this model, but it is still shown with the old TL-prequel in the product's name (which makes reason no. 3 quite plausible)

Is anyone using this UPS switch?

Contact your local support team regarding the device is not properly listed. I see it is under the new Omada web UI. Though it is not listed as a SG3428X-UPS(the new naming).

Certain products are limited to some markets. Some, they never end up showing up in the retailers' stores.

The products like this usually are a customized from a contract. The batch is then sold to the regular users. Yet, I don't have more details into this. This would be the common practice for our products. Our main and priority is to satisfy the contract users and their requirements for a product.

I would recommend a regular model with an external UPS.
