Hi,
Does it matter which port on the TL-SG108 I choose to
connect with my router? Are the 8 ports identical?

Doesn't matter. 8 ports are identical.

Genrally "G" means gigabit ethernet and "P" means supporting PoE. LS108G should be a different product serial from TL-SG108. It seems that TL-SG108 support IGMP snooping but LS108G doesn't support it.

TL-SG108 and TL-SG108S is the same switch by hardware, just the color of the shell is different. It was done only for some marketing things, now there is no TL-SG108S even on official website.
LS108G has 802.1p hardware support and ports are plastic/unshielded.
