Hello,
does someone use the EAP for Multicast traffic?
Does it send multicast traffic by broadcast so it reduce wifi speed to 11 MBit/s or does it convert Multicast to Unicast (MC2UC) with full wifi speed?
I didn't found anything in the manuals or specs.....
Thanks in advanced!
Bye

From the experience of other TP-LINK models. It should convert Multicast to Unicast frames. That is TP-LINK's traditional way.

I have contacted the support team from tp-link.
They answered just with:
" You were asking does the AP support the igmp snooping or igmp proxy?
The answer is no. the device doesn't support."
AFAIK you need igmp snooping for multicast traffic. So MC2UC seems not to be supported.
Quit hard to get such information.....

The EAP120 supports MC2UC!
I bought one from amazon (otherwise I could send it back) and tried it with VLC. I see unicast MAC-addresses in wireshark for the UDP connection. EAP120 converts the multicast MAC addresses to unicast.

Yes, sniffer with Omnipeek it shows that the multicast frames are converted into Unicast. This seems to a conventional way.
