Configuration Guide How to Configure Content Filter
Background:
This post provides a configuration guide on configuring the Content Filter function.
Content Filter is a new feature in URL Filter. It is based on the database instead of the domain wildcards that you used to depend on. This would greatly improve your config experience with the URL Filter. A quick and easy way to make it happen with a few clicks.
This Article Applies to:
- It requires both adaptations. If you're not on the proper router firmware and controller version, the function is not available.
- Omada routers with Content Filter capability. (Some models don't support this feature.)
- The controller is required to be V5.15.20.X or above.
Configuration Steps:
1. Go to the Controller page. Go to Settings.
2. Configure the rule based on your demand.
3. In this guide, we filter online shopping and social content.
4. Click Apply. The rule will take effect immediately.
Verification:
1. Test Amazon and Gmail services.
2. Google service is still normal as it is not included.
Note:
1. Configuration steps for Standalone mode are similar.
2. Please note that this will involve an adapted firmware, not just a controller update. Firmware development is a complex process, and timelines may change. Therefore, we cannot provide a specific release date at this time. Please stay tuned to future firmware release notes for updates.
3. When introducing a feature like this, we typically apply it uniformly across all models to ensure consistency and a seamless user experience.
However, it's essential to acknowledge that hardware limitations may exist, which might prevent us from adding the feature to certain models. In such cases, we cannot provide individual notifications explaining the reason. Please note that we cannot guarantee the fulfillment of all requests, and we must set clear expectations upfront.
4. Some models do not have plans to support this feature. This is a hardware limit.
Known models:
ER605 (varients models)
ER706W
ER706W-4G
ER7212PC
5. This feature is based on the database. The firmware update will update the database as well. If you see the rule is ineffective when the website (domain) you block has changed, it is acceptable and expected. Please report the domain and wait for the next firmware release.
