Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.2

Hello, I have a problem configuring OpenVPN Client-to-site on Festa FR205. Here are the details of my installation:

- Box FAI (tests also carried out with a TP-Link Archer MR600 modem/router)

I set up a redirection from UDP port 1194 to 192.168.1.10

- TP-Link Virtual Controller

- Festa FR205 router (v1.0 Firmware version: 1.0.2 Build 20240718 Rel.82712)

WAN  Interface:

LAN  Interface:

OpenVPN setup :

User VPN setup :

I exported the OpenVPN configuration file and changed the address to the current WAN IP, I also tested with Dynamic DNS.

The error message for OpenVPN 3.6.0 client (4074) is:

I tried setting up a DMZ on the box to 192.168.1.10, and the problem is the same.

Does anyone have any idea what the source of the problem is?

Thnx

Hi @Nicoo77

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

You don't have a public IP. The VPN is not gonna work. Ask your ISP to assign an IPv6 public IP to you.

The "problem" is solved, I didn't know that my ISP no longer provided public addresses but only private ones crying.
I did a test from another connection and everything works !

Hi and thank you for you replay.

My internet service provider provides me with an IP address, however, it is not fixed, so I set up a dynamic DNS with NOIP

@ IP publique

Don't think the VPN can work with these settings?

This is not the right way to check your IP.

I don't know if you really know how it works. You should take a look at the WAN IP on the router. If it is not the same IP as you use, some sort of "IP lookup", then you are not getting the public IP.

IP lookup is never a proper way to find out if you actually have a public IP.

This is typical and expected as IPv4 resources are draining. ISP can take back the IP. Unless your agreement with them specifically states that you have to get a public IPv4 address from them.

I pay an extra bill for a public IPv4 for my home. This fee is not included in my monthly fiber bill.
