Hello, If my TP-Link network is using only several EAP670 access points, is it possible to activate the wireless IDS/IPS function on the Omada Software Controller to protect against attacks? Or is it necessary to also use a TP-Link router?

Hi  @mzanelli

We don't apply this feature to EAP products yet.

And to use it, yes, you need an Omada gateway router, such as ER8411.

Note: not all routers support this feature.

  @Vincent-TP

Thanks for the prompt response.
My confusion stems from reading the "Configuration Guide for DPI, IPS/IDS, and Wireless IPS/IDS" document, page 10: "When the device discovers a threat, the corresponding threat log will be displayed on the Insights > Threat Management page."
What does that text actually mean?

This document says: "This guide will introduce how to use the DPI, IPS/IDS, and wireless IPS/IDS functions of the Omada Controller."

Actually, this feature is already supported in Omada Pro, and we do have plans to add it to the standard Omada product line as well—though not immediately, which is why I didn’t mention it earlier.

This is also the reason we’ve prepared this documentation.
