This post introduces what's the inform URL and how can we get it.

 

This Article applies to:

 

Festa Controllers and Omada Cloud-Based Controllers.

 

Overview:

 

Controller Inform URL informs the devices of the controller’s URL. Then the devices make contact with the controller so that the controller can discover the devices.

 

Note: Hardware controller or software controller don’t need an Inform URL. Only Cloud-based controller has Inform URL.

 

How to find the Inform URL of Omada cloud-based controller?

In non-MSP mode:

Log in to the CBC and click the Controller name of the device and network to be managed. In the pop-up window on the right and click the Copy button corresponding to Inform URL to copy it.

In MSP mode:

Log in to the CBC, launch the controller, go to Customer page, click the Customer, In the pop-up window on the right and click the Copy button corresponding to Inform URL to copy it.

How to get the Inform URL of Festa controller?

 

Below is the format of the Inform URL of a CBC:

omada://aps1-omada-device.tplinkcloud.com?dPort=29810&mPort=443&omadacId= f7323ebe4599aee7f9eab84c3f7e1bbb

 

The first part is fixed for every CBC, including Omada CBC and Festa controller.  The second part is like the domain name for Omada cloud-based controller.

The third part is the cid of a CBC. cid is unique so that every Inform URL is different. For cloud-based Omada controller, we can easily get this information from the pages we mentioned above, while there is no such information for Festa controller. To get the cid of Festa controller, please refer to the following:

1.    Log in to Festa website with your TP-Link account: https://aps1-festa-cloud.tplinkcloud.com

2.    Launch the Festa controller that you are using: 

3. After clicking the launch button,  you will be redirected to a new web page and the web URL will be like below:

The circled part is the cid for this Festa controller.

4.    Copy the cid and paste it to replace the yellow part for the CBC Inform URL as we mentioned at the beginning.

5. Replace the brand name omada to festa in the second part.

 

To summarize, the Inform URL for the Festa controller in the picture above is:

omada://aps1-festa-device.tplinkcloud.com?dPort=29810&mPort=443&omadacId= ffff066ed3ea534ece00998d0cdcb451

 

After obtaining the Inform URL of the Festa controller, you will be able to adopt Festa devices on the Festa controller.
