ER8411 disconnects WAN randomly
ER8411 disconnects WAN randomly

Hello,
I've upgraded from ER605 to ER8411 and from then I've got WAN drops 3-4 times per day for 2-3 seconds. I've configured the network from scratch and nothing was moved over. It's very annoying...
Few network details:
WAN comes from ISP MC to WAN/LAN port 4 and from WAN/LAN port 11 goes to my Omada switch (SG2428P)
LAN network: 10.0.10.1/24 (this one I've changed from 192.168.68.1/24 that I've got from ER605)
OC200 as controller.
After some logs checkup:
06:35:55: WAN/LAN4: IKE negotiation began in responder mode
06:50:12: WAN/LAN4: LCP sending ECHO-REQUEST timeout
06:50:19: WAN/LAN4: LCP sending TERMINAL-REQUEST timeout
06:50:36: PPPoE discovery phase negotiation succeeded
06:50:39: *PPPoE use* authenticated
06:50:39: LCP negotiation succeeded.
Thank you !

hmmm, that was strange. I have exactly the same solution, ER8411 and SG2428P switch but have never noticed that WAN drops. Are you using L2TP VPN then? I have noticed that there can be drops when L2TP connects or disconnects.

I do had configured but it was not active at all. (now I've deleted it)

yeah hard to say. I don't have any more tips. You can see if what you did helped now.
you can download pingplotter to more easily monitor your network over time. it is a free version, set up monitoring of one ip on lan and one on wan e.g. 1.1.1.1

Hi @268BBA
Thanks for posting in our business forum.
Looks like a problem with your ISP. At least the request timeout stands for the router detects the peer end is not responding correctly.

With ER605 I did not have any issues, this issue starts once ER8411 was installed.
Other things that I've changed in configuration on ER8411 and not have it on ER605 are:
1. I've set DST (site and controller); it could have something with that ?
2. Create an L2TP client to site VPN for remote access.
I've disable both of them to check if drops still happend.

If your country is on DST, the servers should be on DST as well. Though time would make a difference in the connection, they would fail if the client and server time is out of sync.
You recalled that you wrote that you disabled L2TP? WAN should not be affected by the VPN. VPN is based on the WAN. If the VPN is disconnected, that would not disconnect the WAN. Vice versa, WAN would affect the VPN.

It went down again :(
I've requested intervention from ISP to check, if it still not resolved, I will try to factory reset it and configure all network again.
About that how should I do it ? If I factory reset the gateway when I'm adpoting it into controller it would apply old config (saved on controller)? should I reset controller as well ?
Thank you for support !
