After the notification on my NVR VIGI 1004h-4P, I updated the firmware of my C340-W 2.20 camera to the new version 2.0.4 Build 241216 Rel.43399n (before I was using 2.0.3 Build 240914). Everything went well, but soon after I started noticing some graininess and strange artifacts in a certain area of ​​the image when the camera is in Infrared mode. In color mode, it seems to be normal, or at least I can't notice any difference.

Should I reinstall the previous firmware? Won't doing so affect the product warranty?

 

I also have a C540-W 2.0 and I did the same update to version 2.0.3 Build 241216 Rel.51462n, however, I did not have the problem mentioned above, but rather a noticeable improvement in the ability to detect humans.

I watched the video. Not sure about this.
Some possibilities:

1. Power frequency. You need to match your local power grid frequency.

2. Some dust in that area which may reflect the light.

3. Check the power.

Thanks for the tips.

As for dust or reflection, I don't think it could be that, because I've been recording for several weeks with the previous firmware and I've never seen this happen. Unless some change has made it more sensitive in this condition. Unfortunately, at the time of the update, it wasn't in continuous recording mode to show this change so clearly.

 

As for the power, I'll check and use an extension cord to plug it into an outlet in another room in the house the next night.
The power frequency here is 60Hz and is correctly configured on the NVR.

 

Could it be a problem with the power supply? If so, I don't have another one to replace, since the one for the other camera is in a very difficult to access place.

 

Well, anyway, I'll bring you some news tomorrow.

After I plugged it into another outlet, everything went back to normal. I reorganized the electrical cables and plugged it back into the original outlet, and everything is fine so far. But I don't understand why all this happened right after the firmware update. Electronics and their mysteries...

Yep! Totally agree. The electronics, they are so fragile sometimes. But sometimes you break off a capacity, it can still work. That's unbelievable. And sometimes, just replacing a wire that would work great, but you use a different one, gives a completely different result.

 

There is a reason for that, but we never know, or we don't have the proper tool to analyze it.

This is why I always recommend users replace the Ethernet cables, power adapter, or fix a bent cable. They don't believe but that really matters.
