Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.2.0 Build 20241128 Rel. 38 447

Hi Omada Experts.

Since replacing an EAP673 with an EAP772 and relocating the EAP673, I'm experiencing persistent Wi-Fi connectivity issues. Specifically, devices are frequently disconnecting from my hidden SSIDs (xxxx_5G). After disconnection, the SSIDs become undetectable, requiring me to remove and re-add them on Windows and Android devices. Even then, connections are unstable, dropping within a minute or less. Some devices that previously connected to xxxx_5G (before added EAP772) now report 'Couldn't connect,' but can still connect to the general xxxx SSID.

Weirdly, I can connect to the xxxx_Guest network, which is also on the 5 & 6 GHz band, but it's not hidden and uses a guest portal for login authentication.

My setup includes an Omada Software Controller (v 5.15.8.2), an EAP673, and an EAP772, with several hidden SSIDs (xxxx_5G, xxxx, xxxx_IoT) and a visible Guest network. I've provided my current configuration below. I would like to keep 6GHz band because I do have devices that are capable.  Could you please help me troubleshoot this connectivity issue?

Current setup:

  • Omada Software Controller (v 5.15.8.2)
  • EAP673
  • EAP772

SSIDs:

  • xxxx_5G (5 GHz & 6 GHz, hidden) MLO enabled
  • xxxx (2.4, 5 & 6 GHz, hidden) MLO enabled
  • xxxx_IoT (2.4 GHz, hidden)
  • xxxx_Guest (5 & 6 GHz, visible)

Settings:

  • Air Time Fairness: OFF
  • RSSI Threshold: -70 dBm
  • Mesh: Enabled
  • EAP LLDP: Enabled
  • Fast Roaming: Enabled
  • Non-Stick Roaming: Enabled
  • AI Roaming: Enabled
  • Band Steering: Prefer 5 GHz / 6 GHz

Security Settings:

  • WPA-Personal
  • WPA Mode: WPA3-SAE / AES

Hi  @mnhim001

To understand the issue better, please let us know more details:

1. Some devices that previously connected to xxxx_5G (before added EAP772) now report 'Couldn't connect,' but can still connect to the general xxxx SSID.

>>>which SSID is the general SSID refer to?

2. how often will the issue happen?

3. did this issue happening on all wireless clients?

4. when the issue happened, will all clients be affected at the same time? or some clients are still working normally?

Please also run the following tests(if convenient) and let us know the results:

1. enable SSID broadcasting;

2. disable MLO;

3.remove the EAP772;

4. disable band steering;

5. downgrade the firmware of EAP772 to 1.0.4.

  @Vincent-TP

I haven't done any changes yet, but this morning when I turned on my workstation having the couldn't connect issue, is now connecting just fine.

Not sure exactly what the issue was, but all my devices are connected as expected with all my original settings in place.

Hi  @mnhim001

That's strange but a good news. Let's observe the performance for some more time~
