Roaming between EAP772 v1.0 and v2.0
I have three EAP772 units, hardware version: 1 × v1.0, 2 × v2.0.
After updating my v2.0 units from firmware 1.0.4 to 1.2.0 via the SDN Controller, roaming between v1.0 and v2.0 stopped working. I have to manually reconnect or move out of range to force a disconnect.
Anyone else facing this issue?
WLAN Setting
Band: 5GHz, 6GHz
WPA Mode: WPA3-Enterprise
MLO: Disable
Default for the remaining setting
Note:
- Downgrading 1.2.0 back to 1.0.4 restored normal roaming.
- This issue affects both the 5GHz and 6GHz bands.

Hi @yliu
Is this only happening when roam between v1 and v2? Will the roam between the two V2 EAP units work?
Will this happen on all kinds of wireless clients?
Do you mean the security mode is WPA-Enterprise? Please share with the screenshots of the security mode and WPA mode of the SSID.
You may test if change the security mode to WPA-personal and leave all other options to the default, and see if the issue persists.

Yes, roaming between the two v2 EAP units working as expected.
Will this happen on all kinds of wireless clients?
Tested on 2 devices, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra (6GHz) and iPad (5th generation) (5GHz) both are getting the similar result.
Will test with WPA-personal and revert back with the result

Hi @Vincent-TP,
The Galaxy S23 Ultra updated this morning and now roams between v1 and v2, but oddly, it switches between 5GHz and 6GHz instead of staying on the same frequency.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra received an update this morning and now attempts to roam between v1 and v2, but it rarely does so properly with WPA-Personal. Only about 1 in 5 times does it actually roam; the rest of the time, it disconnects and reconnects quickly, creating the illusion of roaming.
The iPad only roams with WPA-Personal, and no disconnections were observed.
On the other hand, the iPad Air 2022 (5th gen) works perfectly with WPA-Enterprise.
# Update on 30 March 2025:
For Android devices, it seems that this issue specifically affects Samsung devices . It has been confirmed to occur on the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, S22 Ultra, Note 10, and Note 9.
