Hi @djwujek
Thanks for posting in our business forum.
Do you post it wrong on the router page? Please send your threads to the proper page.
Regarding this, you can look up through the Internet and find out what they recommend RPI model for your controller.
Lower RAM is possible but you gotta run into issue and we do not provide support over the improper products. RPI is not our official recommended controller. We only provide support to the LINUX, Software(Win-based), and Hardware Controllers.
And you should refer to the SW controller recommended specs. The support page shows that information for the minimal RAM.

I know I wrote in the wrong section, I'm very sorry. I read the requirements but I need to adopt one router and a 5-port switch so I don't think the controller needs 4GB of RAM. Can someone help me why the controller doesn't start with this amount of RAM?
Because there are other services need to be run on the controller. Not gonna be for "adopting a simple switch" services up, anything else unrelated don't boot up.
Regardless of what you need, the controller will bring up Java and MongoDB. And other services to maintain it. They are up regardless of what you do, even if you don't adopt anything and let it sit in default.
So either follow the recommended RAM we set for the LINUX or expect no support from us if you run into any problems.

Rpi4b with 1GB ram will not work, you must have at least 2GB to be able to start Omada version 5.15.xx, I would recommend Raspberry Pi5 with at least 4GB on the latest controller which is quite heavy compared to previous versions.
