Model: OC300
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I want to create a single (one) seamless Wi-Fi network of 20 devices over a large area.

As far as I understand, I need the OMADA OC300 controller for this?

What do I need to create a single Wi-Fi network so that a large area has one Wi-Fi name?
I do not need 20 Wi-Fi names from 20 devices.

Hi  @Mark_kg

It's easy, just to use an Omada controller to manage the 20 access points and create one SSID on the controller.

After this, all the 20 aps will broadcast the same SSID. And with fast roaming enabled, clients will be able to roam between them.

Below is a set up guide for your reference:

  @Vincent-TP
I only need one Omada OC300 controller and 20 EAP access points (eg: EAP653)
Right?

  @Mark_kg

You need at least an Omada Router as well, then you can connect some EAPs to the router and then use the Mesh to reach the others.

If you want/have wired connectivity to all EAPs, my suggestion is go for an Omada Switch as well and then connect all EAPs to the switch, so that you can also setup a dedicated management VLAN for security reasons.

Thank you,

Fra

  @nicolati Is it possible to create a Wi-Fi network(Omada) if my main router is Mikrotik?

Hi  @Mark_kg

Yes, if you already have a Mikrotik router, no need omada router.

Just 20 EAP.

But to power on the 20 EAP and get a better performance, you can also consider using a POE switch to power on the EAP units.
