Hi,

 

Where are the DNS servers configured for use by the controller? This is a standalone controller with only EAPs attached so there's no DHCP clients.

 

I've got access to a software controller and I can't find the DNS settings in there so I suspect the DNS server settings are inherited from the host OS? Unfortunately I don't have access to a hardware controller at the moment so I can't confirm if DNS config is visible in hardware controllers and not software controllers...

 

I need to write documentation so I pretty much need to know which menu > submenu > etc. the settings are located and the name of the settings. A screenshot would be great but not needed if the DNS settings are configured in the same place on the software controller as the hardware controller.

It should be under Global View > Settings > Controlelr Settings

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

DNS is configured on your DHCP server.

Not on your controller or EAP.

On Controller, you only configure the EAP IP parameters, which include the EAP DNS server which is only used for the EAP itself instead of the wireless clients.

The controller itself must have a DNS server configured though, otherwise it wouldn't be able to connect to the Omada cloud.

Yeah, I'd expect to see the options there as well. I don't see the option there either however, I'm checking on a software controller, so maybe the OC200/OC300 actually does have the option available in that location. I've attached screenshots below of the options available on a software controller. I wish I had access to a hardware controller atm lol

A colleague of mine was able to get access to an OC300 and confirmed you are correct. The DNS settings are located in Global View > Settings > Controller Settings.
