I'd like to hook 2 switches to a router through daisy chaining, but connecting the two switches together with two CAT 6 cables to create a 2Gb's backbone. Is this possible with auto-negation? EX: [Router] ---1Gb's link ---- [Switch] ---2Gb's link --- [Switch] . Whenever the second is plugged in, the internet stops working. Both the computer and the NAS have no trouble using the 2Gb's link, but when the switches are attached it stops working.

Hi, gadgetguy

It is impossible to combine a number of ports together with unmanaged switches.

Use two managed switches with LACP support.

For example:
JetStream 24-Port Gigabit L2 Managed Switch with 4 SFP Slots

Howto configure LACP read documentation first.
