Firmware Version : 3.16.5 Build 130320 Rel.34410n

Hi,
I just bought a TL-WA7210N . Even though the manual says that in the System Tools Menu a
"Ping watchdog" submenu should exist, in my router it doesn't exist. See photo:
Also the SNMP menu is absent.
Where are these options? Especially, ping watchdog is essential, because the device will operate
unattended.
Hardware: WA7210N v2 00000000
Firmware: 3.16.5 Build 130320 Rel.34410n

TL-WA8210N other small annoyances
2014-02-09 05:22:46
My unit has serial number 13865101064
I dont want to start the RMA process, because I have it in WISP and if I remove it I will not be able to use the Internet.
So it is verified then that no ping watchdog in WISP mode :(
I have also three other things that I found annoying on this model (and I note them here, in case a TP link engineer does read this forum)
1) When I visit the http:// address on my router Everytime I see the Quick Setup screen (The quick setup will help you configure your ....) even
though everything on my router is configured, and I do not know why the hell I see this screen. How can I remove it?
2) I press STATUS and then I see a status screen, but it has a missing number, which is the DB of my Internet Provided wireless signal strength.
On my old and previous TP link Access point, on the same screen I read the Signal: metric, but in this screen, I can see the channel and neither
the other Access point name nor its signal strengh, even though I am connected to it.
3) This unit has a strange operation, in which when it is in WISP mode it is also (and simultaneously) a local access point, with a different
security setting. This is good thing for some situations, but not in mine. i have tried with various settings to disable this (on local wireless AP settings
I removed the "enabled wireless radio" but it also disabled the WISP, I then tried and removed the 'Disable Local wireless Access' but I stil see probes,
I removed the tick from the Enable SSID broadcast, but I too see probes. After this, I changed the password to difficult one and I recognized that
whatever I do the local access point will be active and probing.
These are my 3 annoyances, but they are not so dramatic in order to direct me to ask a replacement or to go back to my previous tp-link model.
The basic operation of connecting to WISP and provide NAT to my LAN works OK, so I dont have extra time to spend on this.
Have you encountered these annoyances?

Hey, BB
1)-- I think that is how the page is designed. Just click other tabs and ignore the Quick Setup:mad:
2)-- see below
3)-- Disable Local Wireless Access won't work---That's a bug! I talked to the support before, he said they have already confirmed the bug and get it fixed. But we need to wait for the release of the next FW. This option is supposed to disable local SSID when ticked.
I have been using those TP-LINK outdoor AP for some time. As you mentioned, the WISP mode on them is simple and crude. If you use the old brother 5210, you will find it hard to configure WISP mode.
WISP router ))) ((( TL-WA7210N_WISP_mode )))) laptops
As we know, in WISP mode the 7210 itself acts as a NAT router, its wireless interface is working as the WAN interface as well as the LAN interface. So that the 7210 becomes a WISP router for its clients(the laptops). That's what WISP mode means.
However, generally I have no need for this mode because I can manage the WISP router and the NAT mechanism degrades wireless performance. In addition, I want the clients in the same sub-net with the WISP WIFI. Thus I prefer the client mode or repeater mode.
WISP router ))) ((( TL-WA7210N_Client_mode----LAN switch---PCs
In this mode, the 7210 acts as a wireless switch, the PCs can obtain IP addresses from the WISP router, they are managed within the same sub-net. Also, in client mode 7210 won't broadcast its own local SSID (in fact we can still use tools to scan its probes but no one can connect to it), it only joins the WISP network and forwards data frames between the PCs and the WISP router. There are signal information in the status page in this mode too.
If you don't need NAT, you can try client mode:)
