Good morning

I tried to post yesterday so forgive me if this appears twice.

We are a software developer and have technical skills with hardware. we have used another manufacturers wifi devices internally for warehousing to allow roaming for handheld devices but now require a solution for enternal wifi. We have used TP link WA7510 to create a WiFi bridge between buildings and are extremely happy with the results.

I am looking to use multiple WA7510 to flood a storage yard with Wifi

I would like to know the following.

1. do they support roaming
2. if I attach an omni direction antennae, does this disable the internal antennae
3. which is the most appropriate omni antennae to use on these devices
4. I intend to use 2 in bridge mode to link 2 buildings together, if I use them in both bridge and AP mode with an omni antennae, are there any issues I need to be aware of.
The distance is around 50 meters to bridge, the receiver will be directly connected to the local LAN, the other end will be connected to a switch with 2 PC's attached. the AP will have a hand
held device connected
5. the AP's around the yard will only have 3 hand held devices and small packets of data transmitting across the LAN so there will be minimal bandwidth taken up.

Can anyone advise which antennae is the best option for omni direction on these models please, I hope to install them tomorrow.

someone on her has suggested ANT2415D but as far as I can see these are 2.4Ghz not 5Ghz....are they compatible?

1-yes and no
2-yes
3-none for a distance of 50 mts.
4-on Bridge mode be aware you would only be using WEP security no other option
5-the 3 hand held devices have to have the ability of 5 Ghz, 7510 is a 5Ghz device, 7210 is a 2.4 Ghz device
suggested ANT2415D

to who ever suggested this, in future ask questions about cooking or flowers, not about basic Wi-Fi mathematics

danymarc, thank you for your reply...i did wonder about the antennae question.

In order to use the device as an AP in the yard environment I will require an omni antennae for a better coverage as the inbuilt ones are directional and have a very limited degree range (they are more designed for bridging over a distance so is understandable)

Can you suggest one as I cannot see a TP-Link one with anything like 15 Dbi

I do a 778mts link between one 5210 and one 741, no external antenna, at the parking lot of where i send the signal i can connect directly to the 5210 with iphone 4 that is a distance of 778mts
what you call better coverage,
this is the Antenna Beamwidth specifications Horizontal: 60° Vertical: 14° as you can read Horizontal: 60° its Omni-directional

I have decided upon the following.

I am going to use the 7510 to 7510 in bridge mode ( i know these work great as have done so before) by using the 5Ghz over a bridge I will get little if any interference.

I will use 3 x 5210 around the yard, there are multiple buildings and corners which will be difficult to cover and stick a 15Dbi antennae on but only if required.

yes but unfortunately I can only get the 5210 for tomorrow when I am installing the kit :-(

in all honesty, 54mbit is more than adequate for this installation as the rugged handheld devices will only be browsing a web page with minimal data packets and rarely all in use at once.
