Overview

We hope to offer you a chance to experience the new features added in the Controller v5.15.20.26 in advance, and also give us TP-Link the opportunity to fully test the firmware in your real network environment and scenarios before the official release. All feedback is welcome, including letting us know about successful upgrades.

Upgrade Note (for OC200 & OC300)

If your built-in Controller version is earlier than v5.14, you can upgrade it by using a method below:

Method 1: Download the latest firmware file, then go to Global View > System Settings > Hardware Controller Firmware > Manual Upgrade and upgrade the firmware to Controller v5.15.20.26 directly.

Method 2: Go to Global View > System Settings > Hardware Controller Firmware, check for upgrade to get and upgrade to Controller v5.14.32, then check for upgrade again to get and upgrade to Controller v5.15.20.26.

Since version 5.14.32, Omada Controller no longer supports upgrades from Controller v4.

Hi  @Babun-Sikder

The feature Cluster (Beta)  is not added in this version 5.15.50.26, I have updated the release note.

It will be added in the next pre-release version. But only for OC300 and OC400.

  @Vincent-TP

OC200 v1 here

absolutely NOT a fan of the "confidential only for test" background on this version!

First reboot after update - GUI agonizingly slow.  Device re-adoption agonizingly slow.  Failed to adopt gateway twice (ER8411 with 1.2.3 beta), but got it on the third retry.

edit: FINALLY - on a gateway with adapted firmware - the ability to remove the default vlan from a gateway port! OMG THANK YOU

edit: My core switch SG3428X had its IP settings on the management vlan interface reset to DHCP.  none of my other switches were effected.

edit: In fact, every SVI that deals with my inter-vlan routing on this switch was reset and disabled!

edit: IPsec site-to-site vpn profile is not visible in controller on the remote site.  the VPN profile on the main site is visible.  I cannot add, delete or edit the profile on the remote site.  Host site is ER8411, remote site is ER605 v2.  The VPN however is working - im at my home (the er605v2 site) and have connection to my work network just fine.  I can see the connection on the main site in the dashboard.  I just cannot edit or see the profile for the vpn on my home site.  Rebooted both gateways and controller, no change.  I will delete my home site and re-create it to see what happens

  @Vincent-TP

Further to the bugs i listed above, i have decided to revert to the previous stable 5.15.8.12 and restore my backup on my OC200 v1

1 - The controller was extremely, agonizingly laggy.  Freezes. Stutters. Complete loss of communication for minutes at a time, pages failing to reload. It was simply awful to use!

2 - I cannot test any of the new features, despite desperatly wanting to use virtual WANs and WAN SDN because we still dont have a beta firmware for ER8411 with 5.15 adaptations
3 - Devices would randomly go into a permenant "Configuring" state on the controller, despite being "connected" moment before, with no config changes.  It would stay like this until i rebooted the controller and then miraciously be normally "Connected" again.  Usual suspect were any random one of my 6 EAP650, and one particular switch (SG3452)

  @GRL   @Vincent-TP

I can confirm that I experienced below two issues also on my OC300:

  • "1 - The controller was extremely, agonizingly laggy.  Freezes. Stutters. Complete loss of communication for minutes at a time, pages failing to reload. It was simply awful to use!"
  • "3 - Devices would randomly go into a permenant "Configuring" state on the controller, despite being "connected" moment before, with no config changes.  It would stay like this until i rebooted the controller and then miraciously be normally "Connected" again.  Usual suspect were any random one of my 6 EAP650, and one particular switch (SG3452)"

It was just after upgrading the OC300. After rebooting it manually after installation it started working again properly.

  @Vincent-TP

Thanks, i have replied to their email with all relevant info

I think the biggest show--stopper i had however was the resetting of all the SVIs on my core switch - in some circumstances this could have broken a network and i think this needs to be carefully checked at your end.  Thant and the general awfully slow nature of using this particular version.  If it wasnt for those two bugs, i would have kept on it and continued testing!

Re:Hardware Controller (Built-in Omada SDN Controller V5.15.20.26) Pre-release Update on 13th Feb 2025
Friday

  @Vincent-TP Hi Vincent, my upgrade on my OC300 went smoothly from the previous version V5.15.8.12. But this version is definitely slower and occasionally laggy. All I have got hanging off my OC300 is an ER8411, a SX3008F and 7 access points. I'm not currently seeing some of the issues other are experiencing but its still early days as only been using this version for 24hrs. I'll report back if I notice any other issues...

Best Regards Lee...

Re:Hardware Controller (Built-in Omada SDN Controller V5.15.20.26) Pre-release Update on 13th Feb 2025
Sunday

Thanks for the update. I have been waiting quite some time for the local DNS, but I'm still not seeing it. I note:

5. *Added support for LAN DNS in Site View > Settings > Wired & Wireless Network > LAN.

Notes

1. These feature with * sign require gateway's firmware to adapt to Controller v5.15.

I have an ER707-M2 router. Is this telling me that I have to wait for a firmware update for that too before this will work? Is that going to be quicker than the 2 years it has taken to get the functionality into the OC200?
