Model: EAP653
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.0 Build 20240830 Rel. 50868

I've done my Omada setup at home, all seems to be great except on my main AP all WLAN clients on the EAP653 lose internet connectivity for 30 to 60 seconds a couple of times a day.

- Wired clients are fine and stay uninterrupted
- WLAN clients stay connected to the AP, keep their IP address but have no internet connectivity. (Screenshot 3)
- Nothing shows in the logs about AP losing power, and the logs show the clients are still connected. I have all log options enabled.
- I've split my SSIDs by band to avoid compatibility issues (Screenshot 1)
- Also switched off a bunch of stuff that I read causes issues like Fast Roaming etc
- I've tried to terminate both ends of the cable to the EAP653 a couple of times and no improvement

- All my APs are connected via POE+. I've tried different ports on the switch. Screenshot 2 for topology diagram.

- I'm unsure if the other APs are also affected as they're in areas of the house and it's an intermittent issue

- I've tried WLAN Optimisation and multiple signal strengths/channels

@slinksx Very similar symptoms from a different setup - two EAP670s into an ER707-M2. My wireless devices lose internet access frequently, staying connected to the AP, then regain access after 30-60 seconds. This problem seems endemic. There are many threads reporting similar issues.

Here's a datapoint that might help. I did two things in quick succession that have cured my issues, at least for the last four hours. First, I rebooted my router. Second, I went into my EAPs and reset all of the radio configuration to auto. They had previously been modified by WLAN optimization. I now have no disconnects and my devices are roaming even without fast roaming on. We'll see if this helps permanently or helps anyone else.

I was having this across my whole network (6 EAP650s various parts of the building)

Uncheck everything in this section per WiFi SSID fixed it, permenantly

what i think was happening was when a client roamed, the ARP response was being sent to the previous AP.  Now its all multicast, it goes everywhere, and client devices can respond properly.  havign these enabled should never ber a default setting!

@sarkomoth thanks, that's useful to know that others are having the same issue.

Did your steps resolve it in the end, or are you still having problems?

@slinksx Yes, what I did seems to have completely resolved the problem. I went from having wifi internet drops every ~10 minutes to none for days. And roaming is working well. Hope it works for you. Let us know if it does.

I have an ER707-M2 and 2 EAP610 APs. I can reproduce this with Xiaomi phones. If the phone roams to the another AP, it stops very often. What is interesting for me, if I do a subnet scan with PingTools, I can see the other devices on the network, but the internet and my another VLAN is unreachable. But if I do a traceroute to google.fom, the first hop (my router) responds few seconds later than usual, then i immediately regain the internet access. It looks like some ARP update bug

@sarkomoth "Second, I went into my EAPs and reset all of the radio configuration to auto."

Thanks for your input. How did you reset it? Via “Forget” and “re-adopt”?

@CS2 I'll clarify the fix that worked for me and is keeping my APs from dropping Internet repeatedly. You essentially need to undo all of the radio customizations that WLAN Optimization did to your AP radios. From Omada, click devices, then go through your APs one by one. Click 'Config', then 'Radios.' For each band, reset all of the fields (Wireless Mode, Channel Width, Channel, and TX Power on my version) to 'Auto.' Repeat for your other APs.

That fix resolved everything for me, and roaming works better than ever.
