Model: EAP215-Bridge KIT
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

Hi there, I'm looking for some basic advice.

I'm trying to get a reliable extension of my existing network from my main house to my annexe.

I've so up a system as seen in the attached image.

My main router is the Archer NX200 which I've attached to an Outdoor Tp Link switch.

This then powers a Tp Link Bridge kit Main and a wifi connection over to the Bridge Client.

The Bridge Kit works fine until I get the signal into the Annexe where I've attached it to a router directly from the Lan port of the Injector.

Then I'm stuck.....

How should I setup this second router so it's just an extension of my main router/network in the Main House.

I've tried, with my limited knowledge' but can't get it right. For example my Sky connection won't carry from the main Sky Box (connected to my main router) to the Sky mini box in the Annexe. It just doesn't seem to pick up the network settings from the main router.

I'm sure it's something simple I've done wrong when I've connected the second router.

Any pointers would be much appreciated.

Hi,

I assume that when you connect some laptop/PC via cable directly to EAP's client (with power injector ofc) then the computer is getting an IP address and have the network access?

I guess your TL WR940N router should be connected to the EAP's client on router's WAN port. Then in router's settings you just set it up as standard router, with Dynamic IP on WAN.

Since it will be your 2nd router in network, make sure that it's LAN addresses are different than your main router's. If those are the same, just simply change that in TL WR940N's settings.

If you set it up that way, then you will have double NAT (one on your main router, 2nd one on your TP-Link). If you would like to open some ports on your second network, then you would have to configure port forwarding on the 1st router (just if you need it ofc). That shouldn't affect internet access tho.

Other thing you can do, is to set up your TLWR940N in Access Point mode. Then it should behave as another device in your main network, instead of creating new, separate subnet. Unfortunately, I'm not aware if in that mode the LAN port's of TP-Link can be used for client's connection or the router behaves as WiFi AP only...

Cheers

Based on  @Raru 's reply, here are the steps to change the LAN IP of the WR940N:

Or, you can change the WR940N to access point mode:
