Network printer works in wrong VLAN
Hi
Don't know if this is the right place to ask this question, but it seems to be such a strange (maybe n00b) question, there won't be an actual category for it ;)
Situation:
I have a switch, with multiple vlan's configured.
VLAN 20: internal lan network, trusted computers, these have access to all other vlans
VLAN60: IOT devices and also printers, these only have access to the internet and to other devices in the same VLAN
Now, when connecting all devices, I made a small mistake, by plugging a network printer, with an static VLAN60 IP, into a port on the switch that is configured as a VLAN20.
Now here's the strange part, at least for me: when I try to connect to the printer's internal webserver, I can't connect, I can't ping that IP address, but when I try to print something, that works!?!
When I found this mistake, I connected the printer to a correct VLAN60 port, now it still prints of course, but I can also reach the internal webserver of the printer.
Why dit it print, when it was clearly connected to the wrong VLAN port? Is the "printing protocol" something special? :)
Very curious about this!
