er7212 - reason for going down

Hello,
in recent days our ER7212PC (Router/Controller) went down several times. I know that its not electricity issue as switches have uptime for weeks.
I am trying to find out what happened, what is the reason for reload/reboot/or what ever happens. I simply only see that uptime is for example 2h (now).
All I can see in logs is: Router_ER7212PC was connected. Is there some way to find out what happened?
Thank you.

Hi,
well company loses internet access. That is how I know there is a problem. Initially I thought its our ISP, but they said they see our device disconnecting. I cannot ping router from local PC when its down (obviously), from logs I cannot dig anymore info than just message: Router_ER7212PC was connected.
Thats my problem, I am not able to find any meaningful logs toi provide. I have enabled syslog server in hope to get more info, but really nothing much from that as well.
Is there some way to generate diagnostic bundle or get to some info, so that I can provide it go get help? Can you please advise?
I am attaching screenshot from logs that I can see. Statistics show CPU not more than 10% utilization.
Thank you

Based on the log, it looks like the router was rebooting somehow? Or boot up again so everything is reconnected to the controller.
Do you notice any power issues?
While it was down, did you still get an IP address? LAN IP. Or do you get 169.254.X.Y?
Get to the hardware interface of the router, when you experience the issue, does it reboot?
No Reboot Schedule is configured for the router, correct?
You can try to reset it and see if it will reboot or not. If it does not reboot, something wrong with the config. I might need the config later.
If it reboots even if it is reset, it could be a power brick or the hardware fault.

Hello, I have now exactly same model. ER7212PC, I will replace exsiting one with new one and see if that anyhow helps. I will let you know how it looks after replacement. I do not believe there is problem with electricity as swithes are up for 62 days. They do not "reboot". However to eliminate issues with power I have connected it via UPS, but that did not help. That is why I am kind of sure its not a problem due to electricity.
What's the test result for the last few days?

Hi @Clive_A ,
At the end I have only prepared new device and got and idea that I try to remove settings that I have implemented not that long ago.
Originally I had DNS servers set as 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 to be provided to DHCP clients. Then we have decided to implement URL filtering (block Facebook, etc.).
So I have updated config that routers itself is DNS server and got in place blocking URL rules. I have rollback this setup as I had an Idea that maybe this is somehow overloading this box, because I spot that during weekend there was no problem, only during week. I have realized that maybe there is 20-40 users at site during weekdays and far less during weekend = those somehow introducing this problem. Seems like it is good now, fingers crossed so far router/controller is up for 1 day 20 hours. I will keep monitoring it, till end of week and let you know if router was able to get to weekend without any outage.

Hello, update. After I have removed URL filtering and assigned 9.9.9.9/8.8.8.8 to be provided to clients as DNS server instead of router IP itself. Issue with router "failing/rebooting" is gone. To me it looks like this feature is something that ER7212 is not able to handle well (for about 40-50 client devices) or has some bug that causes some memory to overflow. Did you have similar issue in past? Do you know if there is some specification how many clients this router can handle with this feature turned on? Would upgrading to OC200 + ER7206 or some other router be a solution to be able to have URL filtering turned on? Thank you.
ER7212PC is recommended for around 30 clients and less if they are traffic-heavy devices.
ER7212PC was originally targeting the small convenience store. Is not ideal for heavy network environments or medium-scale home setups.
And its performance is weak and is one of the reasons why it has been left behind in the firmware upgrade. We are very careful in adding new features to it avoiding blowing its memory up.
ER7206 V1/2 is recommended for 100 or so. ER605 V2 is 60 or so. I would recommend ER7206 V2 for future proof and performance redundancy.
