Model: EAP773
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.0.14

Hi everyone,

I need some help troubleshooting a slow upload problem with my new EAP773.

I have a 10gbit symmetric wan, a pfsense router with 2 sfp+ and 3 2.5 rj45.

One sfp+ is connected to a xgs-pon bridge. The other to a mikrotik cs305. The rj45 port on the mikrotik is temporary connected to an old unifi us-8-60w which i’m using to power a unifi flexhd.

With it i can reach around 300/300 on my macbook pro m4, iphone 13 pro max and a windows pc with a wifi 6 card onboard.

I bought an eap 773 because i wanted to remove the unifi switch and ap, use wifi 6e and be ready for wifi 7.

The new ap is connected with a 10gbase-t and powered with a good quality 12v 3a adapter.

The problem is that the speed I can reach are around 1300/80-120).

Some info/stuff I tried to do:

- factory reset

- connected max 3 devices on the network

- the same port with the same adapter saturate a x550t2 on a test machine (tested iperf)

- I also tried other ports and cables with no differences

- the omada controller tells me that it correctly negotiated 10000 Mbps

- I updated the firmware to 1.0.14

- runned wlan optimization (it went from 40% to 100% as soon I shut down the old ap, but no difference with speeds)

- disabled the 6ghz network completly

- I connected it to the same port with the same cable I’m using for the flex hd (1000 negotiated, speed 1000/80)

- connected directly to a 2.5 port on the router and configured it without the controller (1300/80 again)

- all mtu's are left at default

- iperf3 to a remote server of my isp:

-- with -R

-- without -R

- iperff3 to lxc on a proxmox host connected to the mikrotik (same vlan, no routing trough pfsense):

-- with -R

-- without -R

- iperff3 to lxc on a proxmox host connected to the mikrotik (different vlan, routing trough pfsense):

-- with -R

-- without -R

Unless I'm doing something wrong with iperf... the fact that inside my network iperf works as expected, seems to be quite significative.

I don't see how this could be related since I get better upload speeds with another access point, but I should mention that the wan use pppoe (single thread on freebsd).

Anyone has any ideas? Thank you!

Hi  @z3ombie

Please refer to the following to run an iperf test via the EAP:

How to use iPerf to test the speed between the EAP and the wireless client

If the upload speed is still low, you may contact your retailer to get a replacement.

Wish you a happy life and smooth network usage!

  @Vincent-TP

Thanks for answring,

I did the iperf as explained in the linked page:

macbook -c -> omada -s

I tried also macbook -s > omada -c (goes up to Gbit speed if i use more streams)

So it seems it's working and the problem is, as previously suspected, related to the router/wan side.

But I still can't see why the 3x difference with the old ap..
