The Omada "Lock to AP" should have three options (the first two exist now on/off; the third should be added):

1. don't lock (off)
2. permanent / hard lock (clients will be denied when AP not connected) # current "on"
3. preferred / soft lock (clients will be allowed to connect to other APs when the locked AP is not connected)

The problem this addresses is when you want clients to only connect to a given AP (e.g. because you know they will have a better connection _most_ of the time), but you also want them to be able to connect if the locked AP is offline. i.e. to be allowed to at least try and connect to the wifi network.

Hi  @BenL

Hello, thank you for posting on the TP-Link community, and we certainly appreciate all your feedback and feature requests here. While we don't have any specific details that I can share around if the feature can come the controller, or when it might, I'll make sure to log this feature request and pass it along to the team.
Feel free to let us know of any other feature requests you may have, we’d be happy to send them up for you.

We have clients that are locked to certain AP's but occasionally need to move to different parts of the building where they loose connection because that are locked to one AP, so this would be a great improvement

@MantonL - what I've suggested above won't address your issue: I'm talking about where an AP is offline or removed, and thus it becomes impossible for a client to connect at all. This is a very clear condition that Omada has full knowledge to respond to.

For your use case, I expect the problem is much harder to solve: after all, what criteria could Omada use to decide that a client has moved and the old locked AP that is operational but now "too far away"? Sounds like what you really need here is a (per-client?) min RSSI configuration.
