Hi TP-Link.

Is it possible to configure both WAN and WAN/LAN1 as primary and still the backup link is WAN/LAN1?

I have 2 ISP and I want to use it at the same time as primary wan but still want to have the 2nd isp as backup link in WAN/LAN1.

Thank you.

Hi,

You can use load balancing and link backup at the same time. Here's more info about that:

https://www.tp-link.com/pl/support/faq/4058/

Just keep in mind that Load Balancing is based on sessions, so part of sessions are getting redirected to ISP2 if the ISP1 is fully occupied. The ratio of those sessions you set up in the Load Balancing section.

That mean, you are not aggregating the links to double the internet speed for your clients...

If you are looking for utilizing both WANs at the same time to increase the network speed for clients, I believe you are looking for LAG feature (link aggregation). THat functionality is not supported by TP-Link routers, only some switches.

Cheers

Can I use the policy routing so that I can route the other vlan to my other isp? With this method we can utilize our isp. And what will be the steps.

Hi,

You can as far as I know. I won't help with that since I have no experience with this. Sorry.

Keep in mind that this solution has one disadvantage, once the ISP is down, the policy will still try to push the traffic via this WAN so... It will end up as there's no internet for those clients.
