Hello all,

In advance, i'm sorry for my english and if this post is not at the better place.
I don't know where i can place it, but it seems that is a problem in the software controller.

 

My hardware configuration :
gateway ER-605 v2 - firmware 2.2.6
switch  SG3428 v2.30 - firmware 2.30.2
2 APs EAP610(EU) v3.0 - firmware 1.5.0
controller Omada on VM Windows Server 2016 - firmware 5.15.6.7
15 wired clients permanently connected and 5-10 more casual wired client 
5 wireless clients permanently connected and 10-15 more casual wireless client

3 differents VLANs
3 differents WLANs

 

From the last update of the controller firmware, i have a lot of notifications of offline / online clients.

As you can see in the screenshot below, a lot of client, only wired, has been declare offline, and online, and this behavior is repeated a lot of time in the day.
Just while i write this text, I have encountered the problem 3 times (but, yes. I don't write quickly in english :D )...

 

No one of theses client occur a connexion error (file copy tested OK, internet connexion OK), and no one of the wireless client is impacted.
-> The gateway, switchs, APs and all material seems to work correctly

 

EventList

 

 

As you can see in the screenshot, the offline clients mentionned is connected from a lot of couple of hour (150+), that is not consistent with the fact that are offline and online in a couple of minutes.

 

In addition, when the problem occur, no one of the wireless client is impacted. But only wired.
And the clients impacted can be on one or other VLAN, frequently but not always the same clients.

The clients list is corresponding with the offline / online client's problem.

 

I didn't have any similar error with the previous controller's firmware, but this behavior did previously (maybe 2 years ago) and corrected by update.


Any other have or have had the same issue ?
What is the solution of it ? 
Or maybe workaround ?

Hi,

 

Maybe someone from TP-Link moderators will correct me if I'm wrong but I think it's a bug in Controller's + ER605 software.

 

As I understood from your message, the client's are not impacted (are not loosing access to the net) but it generates many logs which are unreadable, right?

 

If that's the case, for now, you could disable Client Offline logs:

 

Don't forget to hit SAVE at the bottom of the config page.

 

I don't know what's the reason for such issue, maybe someone from TP-Link will be able to help soon.

The controller you are using is not the latest version. 

Please update the controller to the latest version in the following link and see if the issue persists:

Omada SDN Controller_V5.15.8 Pre-Release Firmware(Update on Jan 8th, 2025)

Thanks for your reply... But :
 - you talk about a PRE-RELEASE firmware.
 - unless i'm mistaken, the release notes of this firmware and the other pre-release between the 5.15.6.7 that i have, and the 5.15.8 that you purpose do not montion anything of this issue.

 

I only use the RELEASE firmware, exactly to try and hope to not have any issue like this...

In fact, it seems to be to dangerous to try your pre-release firmware because i'm not sure that correct my problem, and nothing prove that can't cause another issue :(

That's effectively a great workaround to not have a lot of events.
I already do this (I have reactivated the event notification to take the screenshot), but I have to know who, and when is connected and disconnected and i can't with this problem.

 

Like you, i think it is an issue caused by the controller software mismatch with the gateway.

 

But, do you think that is not possible that is caused by a particular gateway or controller configuration ? 
Everybody that running with the latest firmware of the ER605 and the latest released controller firmware has this problem ? Really ? And TP-Link don't correct it ?
