Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 2.2.4 Build 20240119 Rel.44368

Hi everyone, I've had a quick search of the forum for an answer but can't find one. I help run a radio station which runs many machines, and the idea is to use the ER 605 as a dedicated failover device for some essential machines using 4g backup.

I'm having trouble with getting the failover to work correctly between our main router which looks after the entire inferstructure, Flexnetwork 5130, and the ER 605. Bascially I have setup the LAN within the ER 605 to feed 3 essential machines. When i pull out the fibre cable from the Flexnetwork (to mimic an ISP failiure into that), but leave the ethernet feed from the Flexnetwork into the ER 605. It only half works. I can see the WAN goes offline, and the USB Modem goes online. But it's a bit of a scattergun approach across the 3 essential machines as the results I get.

Once the ER 605 jumps to 4G. I've found none of them can access the internet via any browser, but I can connect to all of them via anydesk. Our webstream machine also starts to feed out the station stream once the switch is made, however some remote software on another machine doesn't play ball. Although there must be some degree of connection of sorts into all of them, as Anydesk functions perfectly.

I've tinkered with different settings but can't get it to work correctly. I'm no expert in this and could be missing something blatently obvious. If anyone needs any more info from me to expand on it I can try to provide.

Hi @Lyndon88

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

I don't get your diagram. Not sure how you connect everything.

The Internet is not working while others work properly. That's counter-intuitive.

I think you should specify how your network diagram is. And narrow down the problem description.

The Link Backup is working as far as I can tell. I am inclined to believe this is not an issue with the router.

I've drew up (to the best of my ability) how I've got it set up.

So basically when the ER605 failover happens, the Flexnetwork loses it's internet supply and it switches over to that yellow MYFI 4G dongle. Those 3 Essential Machines at the end of the chain seem to recieve limited internet. Web browsers do not load up anything. Yet select software running on them such as Anydesk and Radiocaster (for the webstream) seems to be able to function. When I switch it back to the Flexnetwork Main ISP, everything works fine. It's just when the backup is on it's acting up.

Do you have a computer to test it on the field? It does not look like a problem with the router.

I want to see how you test the computer and how it responds to the ping, nslookup and DNS resolution on the computer.

As you configure these machines by static IPs, you gotta configure the DNS as well. Have you ruled out any misconfig?
