ER8411 BUG - Enable Bandwidth Control when bandwidth usage reaches
Hello!
My uplinks:
wan4 100mbits
wan5 100mbits
wan6 300mbits
All this Wans included: Enable Bandwidth Based Balance Routing on port(s): wan4+wan5+wan6
Total Bandwidth = 500mbits
Enable Bandwidth Control when bandwidth usage reaches = 80%
THE PROBLEM:
Bandwidth is working ON at 10mbits (2%) to 500mbits (100%) does not caused by persentage I've setuped.
Bandwidth is working REGARDLESS of percentage I setupped in: Enable Bandwidth Control when bandwidth usage reaches =
Percentage is NOT working!

Hi @avpopov1977
Thanks for posting in our business forum.
You might try to describe the issue again. Due to the grammar, I find it hard to understand and I am not getting the exact question you have.
1. Screenshots of the config.
2. Steps to reproduce your issue and how did you reproduce it.
3. A video of the problem is illustrated.

Hello @Clive_A
I will try my best to describe the bug.
There is a very useful feature in er6120 and in er8411: "Enable Bandwidth Control when bandwidth usage reaches XX %"
And it works great in er6120! But not in er8411. This feature had to engage Bandwidth Rules for Users when total internet load will exceeds some percentage.
It seems that er8411 calculating total load wrongly. Because bandwidth rules are engaged all the time! Regardless 0% or 100%
Can anybody check this problem? Example:
WAN1 = 100mbits
WAN2 = 100mbits
Enable Bandwidth Based Balance Routing on port(s): WAN1 + WAN2
Individual Bandwidth Control rule = 20Mbits (for ALL Users personally)
Enable Bandwidth Control when bandwidth usage reaches = 50%
The result will be 20Mbits per each user at any of total internet load. Regardless 25-50 or 200Mbits
NOTE: This bug is not stable! Some times works, some times not.. Some User IPs have this problem 100% of time. Some User IPs have no this bug at all.
So Please setup 50% of bandwidth and make few Speedtest checks in a different time.
I will try to made a photo/video later....

If it is not reproducible, it is hard to determine what it might be.
I would not recommend you test on a speed test website.
Do it with the iperf or chariot. Not with that speed test. It has problems and it is not reliable in reproduction of speed problems.

Hello @Clive_A
I made few additional tests.
Setuped 90% and exceeded 400Mbits! Router gone into "Bandwidth control" mode and limited my IP and all other user's IPs by the rules.
That is alright. But 5 minutes gone - "Bandwidth control" is still working.... Internet Total Load is ~10% but 8411 can't get out from "Bandwidth control"...
That is a problem. 8411 can't cancel Bandwidth Control after Total Load gone lower the limit.
at the picture: Total Router's Load redused to 110Mbits (20%), User's port 3 that downloaded at 80Mbit is still limiting by 40Mbits.

Is that packet or MBps?
5000 MB is more than the total Internet speed you have.
I assume it is packet/sec. It does not reflect the Bandwidth Control.

Either my understanding of the problem or your software.
Byte is byte not bit.
The Mega(the M in Mb or MB) we usually refer to is 1,000 and in your graph is K which also means 1,000.
This port analysis does not reflect the speed.
505114 byte per second is also not right. Multiply 10, it is 500Mbps. Is that your speed?

Hello @Clive_A
This is D-Link Switch and the exact port is 100Mbit speed.
So it could not be 500Mbit at all )
Here is MRTG from that port. Look at 13:00 time mark:
Just look at the beginning of the graph at my first picture from port 3.
Traffic was 80Mbits and after I exceeded 80% of total bandwidth (400Mbits) from another IP -> Traffic were reduced to 40Mbits.
The problem that 8411 does not recalculating total traffic for a loooooong time......
It looks FW Engineering team can simply fix it -- some watchdog needed that will check this rule once per few seconds.
I hope my observations were helpful.

This does not get any progress.
Can you just create a video of the problem illustration? And point out the time stamp where the bandwidth control does not work.
In the video, we also expect to learn how you tested it. The steps to reproduce.
We recommend you use iperf or chariot(which we use to test on all models in the lab).
I cannot even write a proper problem description and report for the test and dev team so far. I don't know how and why it should go to the dev now. And what they need to fix?
