Custom SSL Certificate
Dear TP-Link Support Team,
I am writing to inquire about the possibility of adding support for custom SSL certificates to the TP-Link ER605 v2 router. Currently, the router utilizes a default self-signed certificate, which leads to browser warnings and security concerns for clients accessing the device's web management interface.
Current Configuration:
- Model: TP-Link ER605 v2
- Firmware Version: 2.2.6 Build 20240718 Rel.82712
Issue:
The default self-signed SSL certificate results in browser warnings, indicating an insecure connection. This situation is not ideal for clients who require a secure and trusted connection to the router's management interface.
Request:
I kindly request the addition of functionality to import custom SSL certificates into the TP-Link ER605 v2 router. This feature would allow users to install certificates issued by trusted Certificate Authorities, thereby eliminating browser warnings and enhancing the security of the device.
Alternative Solutions Considered:
I have explored the possibility of using the Omada Controller to manage the router, as it supports the import of custom SSL certificates. However, this approach requires additional hardware or a server to run the controller, which may not be feasible in all scenarios. Additionally, once the router is managed by the controller, its standalone web interface becomes inaccessible, limiting direct management options.
Conclusion:
Implementing support for custom SSL certificates directly on the TP-Link ER605 v2 router would significantly improve the security and user experience for clients accessing the device. I appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to any updates or guidance you can provide.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Yousaf Ali
