looking to upgrade our office switches with some TP-Link models.  as i understand, all my models below support MDI/MDIx which should mean i am able to connect a straight thru ethernet (not crossover) from port to port without the use of SFP or UpLink ports.  with that said, im trying to see which layout below gives me the best practice, best performance, some redundancy.  also would like to hear from you on similar layout experiences u currently have in place or had in place that gave u the best/worse kind of scenarios.  thanks in advance

They are the same unless you have extremely high bandwidth and all ports constantly take that high throughput, 3 is the best.

thanks for the reply.  after some addl research, to go with LAYOUT 3 i would hav to configured addl interfaces on my FW and each of those interfaces, although trusted, would have diff networks/IPs and i dont know if i want to deal with static reservations alwyas having to be plugged back into the same FW interface.

with that said, if i go with LAYOUT 1, would the throughput on the switch model TL-SG1024D be sufficient enough for a SMB with maybe 40 computers, a few printers, and approx 20 VOIP phones?
