Model: ER605 (TL-R605)
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: ER605(UN)_V1_1.3.1 Build 20231207

Hi

Every few hours the network speeds drops from 1200 / 120 to 80 / 80.

After a reboot the speed comes back up, but after a few hours (approx 2 hrs) the speed drops back to 80 / 80.

Tried a scheduled reboot at 05.00 am.

But at about 08:00 am the speed is down to 80/80 again.

Tried a powerdown at 23:00 pm

in the morning the date and time settngs are back to 2018, and the speed is down at 80/80 again.

I have no idea anymore

Hi @AJC01

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

Start with your network diagram with IPs marked out.

Second, replace cables. The speed can degrade if the cable is not good. You need to check at least two cables as you connect the router and modem and router and PC. For testing purposes, always recommend 3ft CAT5e.

Is your test based on the wired connection?

When the network is slow, is the ping to the external DNS server okay?

Iperf in the LAN, does it behave normally?

Looks like your ISP issue if you are certain these stuff are fine locally. I am still not told about the IP address. I am not sure if you have misconfiguration in your network.

  @AJC01

Matters on how big the ISP subnet is... It could be covering your local LAN subnet.

I would change the LAN subnet to something completely opposite.  Like a 10.10.10.0/24 or a 172.21.1.0/24

I understand thats the only thing connected to the ISP.  But per the IP address scheme... they are really close in range.  If the ISP is using a bigger subnet it may cover yours.  I would change the subnet.  Just for giggles.
