Declined Feature request: Easy Managed switch should collect client IP and report to the controller

Unfortunatley not all Omada switches report the client IP addresses to the controller (see screenshot). According to TP-Link support, this is correct, as easy manages switches do not report the client IP config to the controller. The request would be that they also report the clients IP config, so anyone can see the client IP address in the controller portal.

I took an omada adopted ES205GP and connected it to a unifi network, on the unifi network I saw the ip on connected devices but on omada the ip is gone. ARP Detection doesn't work for me either. so I guess I'll just have to wait for an update :-)

Well isnt that interesting!
The ARP detection on the router kinda works for me, however if the device goes "quiet" for a while its IP disappears and never comes back, i only noticed this today.
Like i said, in standalone, IP addresses are detected absolutely fine, even on a switch only vlan where the router doesnt even have a DHCP pool for it....so it is obviously there.

New firmware popped up on these today on controller, including :Add support for traffic based IPC in controller mode" and a few other nice enchancements.
testing IP resolving on my test unit shortly....

We need to figure out what "support" as a verb and "compatible" mean in this case and discussion.
To be accurate, Smart is smart, Managed is managed.
Easy Managed = Easy Smart(what we used to call this). Very basic L2 switch.
Smart Managed = Smart enhanced switch = Smart switch = L2+ = L2 enhanced.
Managed = L3.
If a product works/is adopted/is controlled/is managed with/to/by the Omada, it can be called compatible.
Whilst it may not be advertised it certainly isn't something that I thought would be missing.
There is not a single modem router that I have ever used that hasn't displayed the IP address of the connected clients so why would I think that a business solution would miss something so simple.
I mean when you setup a smart home with many devices knowing the IP address and then being able to use Fixed IP Address is vital ..finding the IP address is also vital.
I had three other tech also look at this and literally thought something was wrong with the hardware until I shown then this thread and said that it was made like that on purpose.
Can you please point me to the documentation that it actually say " Will Not Display Connect Devices IP Address" Do not buy if you need that feature buy any other dumb un-managed switch will work fine but not this one. That's the sticker it needs on the box . I mean motherboard manufacture have to put stickers on boxes to tell people not to eat the battery..

There are no docs.
Look, this is an integration of the controller and the hardware. I have written that the hardware does not support ARP, but the readings on the controller rely on ARP. That's why it does not work. That's it.
The chip may not support the ARP fundamentally. There are various plans for a switch design and hardware selection. Looks like this switch is one of them for the cost and the product orientation.
I don't know what kind of techs you asked them to take a look at. Do they have any experience with the hardware and software integration? I also don't understand what you call it is on purpose.
It does not work this way, and that's it. I don't wanna argue or explain any further. The further workaround would be to count on the router.
BTW, an unmanaged switch does not display in the controller or client list. Connected clients will only show up as clients to the devices that can be recognized. Any non-Omada or unmanaged stuff will not be displayed and will be omitted from the diagram.
And it is L2. Not L3.

@GRL not sure how you went installing the new firmware but mine keep failing the install... again unlike every other omada device in the network that just updates with a single click. Further regret!!

mine upgraded fine from controller with the single click. Both on main and remote site over vpn.
