Declined Feature request: Easy Managed switch should collect client IP and report to the controller

Unfortunatley not all Omada switches report the client IP addresses to the controller (see screenshot). According to TP-Link support, this is correct, as easy manages switches do not report the client IP config to the controller. The request would be that they also report the clients IP config, so anyone can see the client IP address in the controller portal.

@Cepheus0815 it's just ridiculous that this is even a topic of discussion. If it was some sort of mixed network with non-omada DHCP server. But in my case everything is from omada, the DHCP leases are given out by the upstream smart switch, there both mac and ip are known for at least every client that uses DHCP. Nobody should care over how many switches the clients are connected, their mac and ip are still known.

Showing the client IP address in the controller is such basic functionality. Please consider adding this feature.

@Cepheus0815 I have moved from opnsense and cheaper APs to Omada since I liked their performance. I have one basic switch in the line and bought the ES205G to have everything in one environment. I do not need extensive features, but I wanted to use one port for VLAN. Adopting was a pain, but after realizing the client's IP that are wired disappeared I have found this thread. It is ridiculous that such a switch does not support this, it is not even a feature, it is a necessity. No matter where the switch is connected, all clients will lose the IP information instantly. I have moved back the cheap switch and hope to see an update soon or later for this.

We have noticed your feedback over this matter.
The client information to the controller is a set of private protocols and ARP capability, which is not implemented on the ES series at all.
And the ES series does NOT support this protocol nor the ARP table from the hardware level.
If you have similar requirements, and want to specify the client port and other info, consider the L2+ or L3 switches which support ARP table and Omada management.
In the future, if you are using the Omada router, ES series switch, and the connected to ES switch client's DHCP IP is assigned by the Omada router, the client IP will be displayed. Period. No additional features. This is the only improvement down the road regarding this.
As for the ES switch, and this specific request is NOT gonna be considered in the future firmware update.

thanks for the update-- dissatisfying at it is.
if the feature can't be delivered at a hardware level I guess that's the end of it but TP-Link really needs to make that clear in the branding and documentation of the product. Omada and Managed and Smart are used in the sales material and specs-- and it's a stretch to say that it's fully compatible within the Omada ecosystem system -- some what or partially compatible is a more accurate description.
to date been impressed with the Omada gear this is the first disappointment.

Where do we advertise that the Easy Managed switch, AKA ES series, supporting updating and refreshing the client IP? Or what part of the branding is misleading you, think that it is functionally equal to a L2+ or L3?
If you connect a TP-Link unmanaged switch with an Omada switch, some clients do not display on the controller. Or another third-party switch, managed, it does not display either.
It does not maintain and update the ARP list due to its hardware. This is the reason why it does not report the client IP to the controller.
It is a part of the Omada as it can be adopted and controlled by it. The missing client IP is and should not be considered as "incompatible with the Omada system".
No to mention the ES series was released because you guys asked for an easy managed(smart) switch, commonly known as an easy L2 switch for proper Omada management. Not in your presumption which "equal" or understanding "works fully and is capable like a L2+ or L3 switch".
This is a total misconception. Working with the Omada does not mean it will become a switch like L2+ or L3. It can be adopted and controlled by Omada but in essence, it is still a L2 switch lacking ARP ability.
It does not support it because it is a matter of the switch level has not reached the L2+. Compatible only means it is a part of the Omada control and management.
We need to figure out what "support" as a verb and "compatible" mean in this case and discussion.
To be accurate, Smart is smart, Managed is managed.
Easy Managed = Easy Smart(what we used to call this). Very basic L2 switch.
Smart Managed = Smart enhanced switch = Smart switch = L2+ = L2 enhanced.
Managed = L3.
If a product works/is adopted/is controlled/is managed with/to/by the Omada, it can be called compatible.

When buying the switch, I assumed it would show the client's IP, because nowhere was it stated that it doesn't. I feel cheated by you, TP-Link. The switch is going in the trash. Considering the tone in which you’re defending your position here, it only reinforces my feeling that I wasted a lot of my money on the entire TP-Link infrastructure — but this is the end. I'm starting the process of gradually switching to competitor equipment. Over and out.

to be honest a simple statement on the product sheet that says that the "Centralised Cloud Management via the web or Omada" only applies to the "device itself" and not the attached "client list" would help to clarify.
as a buyer that would help-- because as a buyer who looked at the spec sheets it wasn't clear when I purchased. And I will have to substitute these products with others at my cost.
Speaks less to the hardware quality and features (tp-link will build whatever they like and think will sell) and speaks more to the quality customer experience.
thanks again for answering -- gives a definate way forward now that a firmware fix isn't an option
