Delete recordings from SD card
Hello,
I recently bought a VIGi camera and I'm really happy with the rich setup options.
Therefore, I find it incomprehensible that the app lacks such a basic thing as deleting individual recordings.
And according to discussions on the internet, I am far from being the only one who wonders about this. Is there a reason for this?
The solution of formatting the whole SD card, or removing it and deleting the recordings by inserting it into the computer, is not an acceptable solution.

Hi @j_cz
Thanks for posting in our business forum.
TBH, what's the reason for you to delete a single (day) video?
A security camera is supposed to capture the image 24/7 and what would be the reason to delete the recordings?
If you delete that from the app, you miss a day and if you forget that you deleted that day, there will be misunderstandings.
It just does not make sense to delete recordings for a camera.

Hello,
thank you very much for your reply, even though it is clear that the addition of the feature will not happen. Anyway, I will add my viewpoint.
For me (in exaggeration of course) it doesn't matter if the reason for deleting is that I want to delete the sensual scene that took place in the living room, or I don't want my kids to see me delivering Christmas presents, or someone asked me to do it under GDPR.
In my world, as an administrator, I take responsibility and consequences for possibly deleting a recording. Why should I be denied this option?
In the Tapo forum here on your site, or variously on the internet, you can find other reasons why users want it.
It would be great if we were given that option, and TP Link can feel free to leave it up to us to decide if it's a good or bad idea.

We have no plan for this feature since the VIGI was released. Not considered. I also doubt if any of the camera systems would offer you a way to delete the recordings easily like that.
I have no experience in Tapo and not sure if they allow that.
This is inevitable if you have placed a camera in the bedroom. The VIGI is not the smart home product and we would like this to capture 24/7 as a security product.
This is why VIGI was created in the first place to integrate and suit the business environment for surveillance and security.
If the option is offered, it loses integrity and there is no lawful point in the recordings. It also makes the system look less integral.
It is also not ideal for management if someone accidentally deletes the recordings. Even though you are a responsible admin, this does not mean everyone else is. We will definitely be asked to help recover the recordings but this will never happen.
