Configuring Remote NVR storage recording
Hello there,
I started a project but never faced such a similar situation so far, so i will need some help. Explaining my situation:
Site X - behind router firewall - NVR1008H installed. Local ip 192.168.1.38 (/24). Storage 1TB HDD. I have installed 2 tapo C200 cams, linked no problem, recording and everything. NVR is added to VIGI VMS Cloud and operational.
Site Y - behind other router firewall - VIGI C540-W ver.1 installed with latest firmware update 3.0.2 Build 240611 Rel.80268n. Local ip 192.168.0.166 (/24). Camera is added to VMS Cloud, no problem, viewing and operational.
My challenge is to link it to the NVR in a way that could record events on the local 1TB storage on Site X.
I am aware that i need to port forward on Site X, or maybe even on Site Y, but which ports? How do i point the local storage to the camera on Site Y after that?
Please, any help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks for posting in our business forum.
Add it to the NVR instead of binding it as an individual device. Once it is bound to the NVR, you manage it from the NVR. That's how you achieve what you expect. They'll be managed under the same NVR but you can create different groups.

How do I exactly achieve adding it to the nvr? I repeat, the camera is located behind a different router.
I add manually from the nvr management page? I'd like this, shouldn't I open ports on the site where the camera is installed instead of the site where the nvr is installed?
Please, a little guidance will be highly appreciated.

This is a basic port forwarding setup. A typical server setup.
The discovery, if they are in the same LAN, is based on the port and same range of IP(subnet).
It is just placed in a different network but the ports are the same.
So, you should expose the ports of the camera to the public IP address and let the camera join(connect) to the service and upload their videos and streams to the NVR. NVR can stay behind the NAT if you add the cameras manually. As you can see the camera IP address and ports should be available on the WAN.
I can show you a brief guide but this skill is required if you want to further process this project. Or you gotta ask so many questions because it involves so much knowledge. Nor can you maintain it.

@Clive_A Hi again, and thank you for your follow on the matter. I understand its a complex task, but i still have basic networking knowledge and know what is port forwarding and how to manage it. My main concern was that the guide you provided (with the image of adding WAN) is nowhere to be seen on my NVR, i simply dont have such option
I understand how frustrating this shoul look to you, but tried everything, and no go. I spoke with my ISP, he did not allow port 443 to be opened by the user, because its internally used by the ISP to communicate with the router remotely, so i opened a random port instead and changed this port locally to the camera. Even so, im unable to link it.
In the picture above, i write the public IP of the camera, the port i opened (8545 in this case - changed on the camera itself locally!), username and password and after a few seconds get "REQUEST FAILED". Thats it.
When i try to lookup for the open ports from ouside, they appear OPEN on the public IP the camera uses.
From here, i am clueless how to add the remote camera to the local NVR.
If you are willing to go with this tread (i have searched similar before with no luck), please, reply.

First, if your ISP does not allow you to port forward 443, that's a problem that I CANNOT resolve.
You can try to port forward the port into a different one. And the IP should be the public IP instead of 192.168.1.X(?).
Or you can port forward the NVR, and let the camera join the NVR? I am not sure if this is possible for the Tapo. I am no familiar with the home products and never used a smart home product from Tapo.
Second, I am using the VSM and you can bind your NVR to the VSM and try from there? At least that option, if you use the VSM as the virtual NVR, it can add a camera remotely.
I do not have an NVR at hand due to the stock issue. Warehouse does not have any of the NVR models available and all are pending shipping.

1. I know that you cannot help me with my ISP blocking 443, i did not even asked for help there :) But thanks anyway.
2. I changed from the camera, the default port from 443 to 8545
3. Logged in the router, forwarded 8545 to the camera IP. Checking from otside (canyoseeme), port is open on the public ip of the camera.
4. Back to site A, where the NVR is, logging directly to the NVR, settings - add camera manually. Ofcourse i know i need to put the public IP there, the image was just illustrative.
5. I put the camera public IP, protocol i only have ONVIF, cannot be changed, management port (i understand should be 8545), username and password of the camera on site B.
6. Waits like 5 seconds and "UNKNOWN ERROR" pops up. Thats it.
7. I tried all ports the camera uses (8843, 8800, 554), all are open, none connects
8. Installed VSM - no such WAN camera add, only manual ADD and nothing more.
I am ready to give up at this point, unless you have some other idea i could try.
I repeat, all ports (8545, 8800, 8843, 554) on the camera on site B are open and visible from the outside.
